WHG was one of the first providers of a platform that allowed the aggregation of games. That was a good thing since they didn’t make any games themselves. Today, they have agreements with over 120 labs and studios and can pump over 3,000 game titles into any of their gaming sites.

In 2021 the company created White Hat Studios when they acquired a remote gaming server (RGS) and a catalog of games from the Gauselmann Group’s Blueprint Gaming. When we visited the site, the entire live dealer suite was powered by Evolution Gaming and NetEnt Live while offering about 20 choices. Look for Hold’em, roulette, blackjack, baccarat, dragon tiger, and a variety of game show style titles like Monopoly, Deal or No Deal, Crazy Time, and Mega Ball as well as Super Sic Bo with up to 1000x payouts.

Slots

When you enter the slots lobby more viewing options become available. Now the list adds:

When you are in List view, for example, you can then sort by date, by name, or simply play a random game. It’s a great little feature that lets players sort of create their own user interface, making lobbies their own.

While navigation is simple at the first level and can become as specific as a player chooses to make it, there are still a few small Easter Eggs that we needed to find on our own.

We noticed that the main categories in the lobby and in the drop-down menu didn’t find RNG table games. With an aim to use the magnifying glass to open a text search box, a whole new menu appeared that included many more specific game types.

Here it was possible to explore all of the previously mentioned categories as well as be able to click through to:

In my mind, that completed what I consider to be one of the most important elements of a site’s layout - the ability to find any sort of game at any time, easily.

Table games

We’ll leave it as a matter of personal choice if any player prefers all live games to be separate from all RNG games - they aren’t segregated here when looking at table games. However, the visual cues are enough to let you simply scroll past the live dealers and find the digitally animated tables if that is what you want to play.

The same is true for any of the specific table games, you will find RNG and live games mixed together in blackjack, roulette, and other types of games. And, like most databases, the sorting is not perfect. Under the poker section, you will find live and RNG table poker, video poker, and an oddity of Netent’s Starburst near the bottom of the list.

Providers

This section - just like the new games section - is constantly changing. The game inventory is updated often as new titles are released and as new providers are brought on board. Over the course of a month in real-time, I liken it to walking out of the MGM in Las Vegas, wandering across the bridge and down the street to Mandalay Bay - then after a nap going back to MGM to find a whole new game floor added.

When viewing a page of providers you can see the studio logos as well as how many games they have available. Some of the newer labs and studios only offer a small handful - whether they are being tested for customer draw or have only produced a couple of games. I have to grudgingly admit with about 100 providers, I either don’t know all of them or perhaps don’t recall them all. Thank goodness the human mind should not be expected to know the origin story, development and business team, or the talent behind the makers of over 10,000 gaming titles. The database is the player’s friend in this.

Some providers such as Blueprint (for obvious reasons related to WH Studios),  Red Tiger (because they are a prolific producer), and NYX (because they bought up a dozen smaller developers before becoming part of SciGames) have over 100 titles here.

Oddly enough, for all of its sophistication, the user interface loses some luster when you try to find your way back to a screen of previous choices. This is, in conclusion, a user interface that does not actually reach the ultimate sophistication through simplicity. It feels more like you are being steered by the choices presented. It becomes difficult to establish personal pathways that are easily found again.

Bonuses and Promotions

Your location may determine which specific promotions you are eligible for as well as the bonus terms and conditions. When we visited they were offering a three-part welcome package. All offers had extra spins and those usually have their own terms and conditions. Winnings from the extra spins were capped at $20.

Without an in-depth statistical analysis of the bonus terms to reach a value conclusion - which would also reveal strategies that might potentially violate terms and conditions, we’ll just take a stark look at the terms themselves.

The welcome package terms state that wagering requirements are 40x deposit plus bonus, but only bonus wagering counts. Perhaps that is attractive with a 200% match on the first deposit but it fades in attraction to me with subsequent lower percentage matches. 

Let’s take a closer look at the second-page terms to see if that holds up. Perhaps we don’t need to use bonus funds or be encumbered by them if we win with the deposited money prior to dipping into their money.

Max bet is $5, Skrill and Neteller deposits don’t qualify.

From there we have to go to a deeper page to learn much else. This becomes rather convoluted with delineations like “significant terms” in addition to “standard terms” with the overriding conditions being defaulted to "significant terms" in the case of a conflict between the two but to standard if there are no significant. Okay!

Standard terms:

Single bets that exceed 20% of the bonus are forbidden (significant terms $5 max)

Deposited and bonus funds are encumbered until wagering has been completed (starts when cash balance is depleted) Some bonuses may have specific terms to supersede this - but not the current welcome bonus.

Let’s analyze that with a $100 deposit and a $200 bonus!

Your bankroll would be $300 with wagering requirements of $12,000. The hypothetical offer has a max bet of $5 per spin.

We find nowhere in the terms that specifically state you may bet as you like with cash funds, so your max bet at all times until wagering is completed is $5 per spin.

After depleting your cash balance of $100 you will have $200 in bonus funds and the wagering requirements are still 40x or $12,000. This means your effective wagering requirement is now actually  60x the bonus amount for the first deposit offer. You will have a $200 bankroll to complete $12,000 in wagering.

There is only one saving grace to this offer in my opinion - there is no maximum amount you can win. This has to be tempered with the fact that over 100 slots don’t contribute to wagering at all and about a dozen highly volatile slots like DoA, 300 Shields, Blood Suckers, et al only count 20% or 1/5th. That makes those games 60x5 or 300xb wagering.

I won’t delve into the maths of the lower percentage matches because they have the same basic terms with outsized handicaps.

Slots play earns one point for every $5 wagered (2 for $10). 1,000 points ($5,000 wagering, cash, and bonus) earn $5 in bonus cash with a 40x wagering requirement.

No max cash out is applied to winnings derived from loyalty points but they must be wagered before converting to cash.

The Final Word

Barz Casino is managed by White Hat Gaming and in Great Britain it is listed as an owned domain rather than a white label. On the Maltese license display it simply sits among over three dozen other sites that use the platform. This distinction should matter because the platform provider itself takes responsibility for this casino. That allows us to separate the reputation of owned domains from other operators using the platform - this has not always been easy.

Since there is no disclaimer in the imprint informing us that players in one jurisdiction or another are entering a gambling contract with a separate company if they are in Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, Germany, or anywhere else - players have the force of reputation with the Gambling Commission on their side. While only British players are protected by UKGC regulations, White Hat Gaming is the rare operator that puts their entire reputation on the line with the Gambling Commission in this respect. It bodes well for the player.

Other WHG domain sites seem to go the extra mile to establish and maintain sterling reputations. One example would be Hello. While players should not expect such treatment or confuse fairness with weakness, we have seen Hello Casino go above and beyond to treat a player fairly in a way that is very rare in today’s market.

The game selection is simply obscene.
