About the Company

Stormcraft Studios is an independent online gambling game developer that creates exclusive content for Microgaming. The South African and Isle of Man company is not a new developer but the studio brand is new. Stormcraft has been developing hit games for decades, including some of Microgaming's top titles.

It is the second studio to sign up under the 'studios' program. The first announcement was in February 2018 when Triple Edge Studios joined the new program. Announcements of additional independent studios creating exclusive content are expected in the coming months.

Microgaming is licensed and regulated by the UK Gambling Commission and it's expected that all games created by the studio will be released under the Microgaming trade name and under that license.

Looking at the Stormcraft company photo we see a little more than 50 team members. Further research tells us the company employs talent in every discipline of game development from musicians and artists to statisticians and developers. The company mentions in their literature that decisions and even ideas are driven by maths, data, and analytics along with a deep understanding of the marketplace. Finding several favorites among the Microgaming titles they have developed, we find no reason to doubt the assertion.

Software and Games

All new games will be deployed in HTML5 for play on any device, whether smartphone, tablet, laptop, or desktop and optimized for delivery with the best performance and appearance on the client device.

The announcement of the partnership came with the release of the steampunk themed online slot, Fortunium. The game was previewed at ICE Totally Gaming in early 2018 but only released to casinos on June 20.

The 5×5 spinning game is built in a rich gameworld accented by golden skyscrapers and pure opulence. The graphics and sound effects are first class. While far beyond the 256 shades of gray visuals of the 1927 German expressionist science-fiction drama film classic, Metropolis, the scene is reminiscent while still lending itself heavily to the more modern steampunk genre.

Look for stacked mystery symbols that will change to any other symbol except scatters. The feature symbols are all highly stylized such as the Wild which seems to be set on a 3D wheel device, and the free spins scatter with its green smoky class set into a golden fixture with tubular qualities. Off to the side is a similar gold and green Win Booster symbol that allows one click, one spin bet increases that can be executed when you feel lucky.

The company's second release is expected to be Agent Jane Blonde Returns - a sequel to the wildly popular Agent Jane Blonde released by Microgaming in 2005. The new game was previewed at iGB Live! in Amsterdam in the summer of 2018.
