ComicPlay Casino Review Jump to comments 115

Comic Play Casino is an online gambling site with a pulp comic art theme. The theme carries through from the BAM/Splat/POW expression behind the logo to the live chat icon. Since the imagery is rendered in a flat style with HTML5 used to shade and give depth where needed, the pages load super fast.

Aside from the style, the first thing we noticed is that the site operates on the Realtime Gaming platform. That means there are hundreds of games with regular new releases. It also means it’s RTG/SpinLogic through and through.

The site bears the seals of Central Dispute Systems (CDS) and Gaming Curacao and accepts players from the USA, Australia, Canada, and elsewhere. The registered operating company is Beforelity Solutions N.V. Ownership is unclear as it usually is with a casino that serves these markets but ComicPlay has at least one sister site serving the same markets, and that is Highway Casino - another highly themed gambling site operating on the same platform.

The cashier accepts several common payment methods including Bitcoin. Depending on your location you may be able to use POLi, bPay, AmEx, Neosurf, and MuchBetter as well as Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and bank wires. Payouts are on the slower side with Cryptocurrency withdrawals taking up to 24 hours.

The bonus program recognizes the value of cryptocurrencies and awards players for using the preferred method in several ways from extra value percentage matches and lower wagering requirements to faster cashout. Look for other preferred methods with incentives too - while these things change in time, Neosurf is currently a very valuable choice with increased percentage matches, lower wagering, and no max cash-out provision.

Some of the bigger bonuses may have max cashouts terms attached but not all do, so it’s good to shop for the best bonus for your particular play style, bankroll, and other factors. Most of the deposit bonuses also come with extra spins - the larger the deposit, the more spins you get.

We find no valid complaints about this site or their sister site, but there is more buzz and chatter than usual. Most of the player feedback is positive aside from complaining about a lack of free chips, but high rollers have mentioned that the weekly withdrawal limits are too low for their liking.

Other complaints and grumbles have included not being able to get documents authorized prior to depositing, and some players who cashed out on the welcome offer have seen fewer or no bonuses offered after that. All known winners were paid within 5 days, which is fairly common for sites that accept play from the USA, Canada, and New Zealand areas.

None of the grouses amount to an actual complaint aside from perhaps a VIP “player class” issue we’ll examine later.  None of the leading advocate sites have issued cautions for the newer operators. Management representatives are available on player forums to address any issues that arise in public.

With that, we’ll focus on the software and games, report more detailed information on bonuses along with terms and conditions, take a closer look at banking and customer service, then generate a bulleted list for you that includes anything to be aware of unique to this venue and ultimately, we’ll render a final word on ComicPlay Casino.

Software and Games

The site is delivered in HTML5 for instant play on any device with a native browser and internet connection. Not all PC/Mac games are available for mobile but most are, all new games are released omnichannel, and only a few of the legacy games have not been optimized for mobile play yet. No download of software or apps is required or available. What you see on your device is what you get - about 200 titles from video poker, pokies, and progressive slots to tables and card games.

The site presents a slightly different user interface depending not only on your display but also on how you size your browser on a desktop. I always like to play with that to see how responsive a page is, and this one is sharp, fast, and clean. Spreading the window across about 40” of the screen and collapsing the height to about 18” gives me just the layout I want on the home page.

Collapsing the desktop display width to about 480px gives me an excellent Android emulation. I haven’t tried to open it in Bluestacks yet, but casting to Oculus 2 by using the desktop Immersed agent allows me to fill a room with the reels and wrap the screen about 160 degrees of arc to enjoy a totally immersive experience. Other players may have figured out better ways to spin RTG slots right in a VR headset, but I’m happy with my solution so far.

Registration took less than a minute, and the site was still 100% responsive in gamble/real money mode.

Navigation is similar to many other RTG sites but also a bit unique. Clicking on Live Dealer opens a new tab with Visionary iGaming (ViG). Here, you need to transfer funds from your regular account into the live games. When you want to go back, simply “Return funds to main balance”. It’s not exactly seamless, but it is much better than having to go to the cashier to transfer funds as we had to do in the past.

One nice thing about the live dealer suite being configured this way is that you can check out the game action without depositing. ViG is one of the only - if not the only providers that still lets players look at their software and games without investing a stake to do it. They’ve been around since 2008 and although the streaming is blisteringly fast and up-to-the-times in every other way, they still maintain a little more of a “down-home” or day 1 feel to them. I like that.

The live dealer suite offers blackjack, roulette, baccarat, and Super 6.

  • Blackjack - 5 tables $5 - $2500
  • Roulette -  4 wheels $1 - $1000
  • Baccarat -  2 tables $5 - $1000
  • Super6 -    2 tables $5 - $1000

The HD blackjack games all offer 7 seats with unlimited bets behind. The two Blackjack Early Payout tables can serve an unlimited number of players.

Dealers and croupiers include men and women.

Two of the roulette wheels are configured for auto-roulette and two have croupiers - one wheel is single-zero European and the other is 00 American roulette.

Both of the baccarat tables are staffed and the same dealers appear when selecting Super6 so it is most likely simply integrated as a side bet.

Random Number Generator Games

This is where we’ll find all of the slots, RNG tables and cards, progressives, video poker, and a few specialty games.

The site offers a simple “drill down through the database” type of menu starting with a broad range of game categories. You can hover over to refine your selection from the main lobby or visit the category writ large. Further refinements in the following categories include:

  • Slots - 5 reel, 3, reel, 6 reel, Bonus round, Progressives, Floating symbols, and 4 reels.
  • Tables - All, Caribbean, and 21 Games
  • Video Poker -  1, 3, 10, and 50 hands
  • Specialty - Table games, Keno & Bingo, Scratch cards, board games, and shooting
  • Progressives - All, Table games, and slots

Once the main category, such as slots is opened, the only way to refine is by those filters. There is no sorting facility such as by the size of the jackpot, but the games are in alphabetical order.

Nearly all of the Real Series video slots have random jackpots. These are local progressives that are seeded by the operator or provider and then grown with a small percentage of the RTP  per bet. The bigger network pooled progressives are found in their own category but are also commingled in here.

New games

All of the new games here are actually developed and provided by SpinLogic. I won’t go into the whys and wherefores because that is proprietary information I’m simply not privy to. I can tell you that RTG has rebranded its own studios in the past as well as used a variety of third-party developers to create their content in the past, including Australian developers.

That’s one reason there is so much diversity in their slot catalog.

Many of the new games are “deluxe” versions of legacy games. The Aussie slot Achilles is also available now as Achilles Deluxe. Asgard has been reimagined to become Asgard Deluxe. Jackpot Cleopatra’s Gold has been revamped into a Deluxe version - but - the original is still available and the progressive jackpots are pooled.

Some of the new games are simply fresh creations using a variety of base game and feature mechanics, new forms of jackpots, “golden symbols” and other elements to keep them on the cutting edge.

Look for new games at least once each month with redux and seasonal offerings augmenting those numbers.

Bonuses and Promotions

I mentioned earlier that the savvy player will want to shop for the best value in the bonus offers. The promotions page is inundated with deposit incentives and some have slightly different terms.

Of course, you could just open the Wonder Box to see what fate has in store for you. Click “Try now” to spin the rolling marquee and wherever it stops, that is the offer you can take.

Not being one to gamble with gambling, I decided to parse all of their offers. This is where a lot of the comic art is too, so it gave me an excuse to explore the theme a little more.

The promotional categories are Welcome bonuses, Regular Bonuses, Highroller’s bonuses, and Cashback Program.

I noticed that the BTC and Neosurf offers were missing so I had to go back to the Home screen where there was a place to click and see all 29 bonuses currently available. Oh, it’s tempting to just click one, but…

The regular welcome offer was boosted for a crypto deposit and the wagering requirements were lower.!

Wagering is 33x but for Neosurf and BTC it is only 25x.

That sounds pretty good...

Why?

In my experience, without a random jackpot, it’s very rare to increase my bankroll 35x so I’m not likely to notice the cap. Moreover, even the pooled Jackie Chan jackpots are only a little over $5,000 because this is a new operation and they simply haven’t had the chance to grow super fat yet.

With that, along with noting the BTC and Neosurf enhancements, I decided to look at those two offers.

BTC - various percentages. Wagering 25x. No max cash out.

Neosurf - same terms

In this case, for me, the regular welcome offer is best - the percentage match gets me $50 more for a $100 deposit ($400 bankroll) wagering is tough but doable on a good day at 25xd+b, and I’d be more than happy with collecting the generous max cap of a $3500 win, especially since there are no huge randoms to even hit.

Another reason to choose carefully? Player reports indicate that I might be banned from bonus play after winning too much. I have never understood this knee-jerk reaction from some operators - it makes no sense at all. They set the bonus terms - which games, how much you can bet per spin, etc., and after a nice win, they drive some players away who would have given the money back. I can understand - maybe - capping the max win, but only because other bonuses have that term anyway. But I digress. Their bonuses, their terms, it’s all good.

Reminder: There were nearly 30 offers in the promotions section including daily, weekly, and monthly cashback offers. You’d have to look for yourself to know which is best for you - we all seek different things.

Banking and Customer Service

Please note that payment methods can vary by region. Prior to depositing, please log in and visit the cashier to see which withdrawal methods are available to players in your area.

Several facilities are listed here. Generally, PayID and BPay allow players to deposit directly from a bank account. BTC deposits are flashed and unlimited so you won’t have to wait for 5 confirmations, you should be able to play right away.

Credit and debit card deposits are instant and so are Neosurf voucher deposits. Neosurf has a limit of $250 per transaction.

  • Card withdrawals (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, Amex). “Get your winnings confirmed in 3-5 business days
  • BTC withdrawals - “Receive the cash out in 48 hours with Bitcoin
  • Bankwire - “Get your bank wire confirmed in 4-5 business days

We also see this: “The payment requirements for VIP players may vary.” Scouring the terms and conditions we also see, “...please note that the cashout amount can vary depending on the Player Class.”

It would be a mistake to put those two things together and expect higher payouts or even the stated $2,000 per week. It would be safer to assume they will pay out big wins at less than $2000 per week. That assumption is based on two decades of online play and never seeing that term used in another way. It’s bolstered by seeing a high roller leave who may have assumed that unlimited BTC deposit limits should result in higher BTC withdrawals but that was not the case.

...all progressive jackpot wins are not subject to the general Terms and are paid in full.” However, that may only refer to network progressives, to local random progressives.

Pitfalls

  • Low weekly cashout limit ($2000 depending on player class)
  • Long pending times (2-5 business days)
  • High minimum withdrawal ($100, Bank wires $300)
  • Cashback is given as a bonus (WR 44x, Max cash 5x)

The Final Word

ComicPlay Casino offers online players in the USA and other underserved jurisdictions a bonus-rich alternative for RTG platform games. It has a cool and refreshing theme, the interface is well designed, and it is extremely well optimized for mobile, tablets, and desktops.

We don’t find any valid complaints or predatory terms but they do have a slightly murky term in regard to “players class”. Experience with this term and one known incident at a sister site indicate they will use it to slow roll your payouts - any operator who states payout amounts depend on player class should define those parameters as well as instruct on how to achieve a higher class. Mysteries of the back office are not “player-friendly”.

The Bonus scheme looks exciting, but the offers also seem to be based on another sort of player class - those who win too much will not be offered bonuses. That matrix is also a “mystery of the back office” - if they have a model that shows “fair play” and requires a 2:1 clean deposit to bonus cash ratio they should make it part of the terms and conditions.

Alternately, players can choose not to play with a bonus and life becomes much easier in the long run as well. That said, there’s no reason not to choose the best bonus for your bankroll, playing style, and expectations.

I’ll play here now that I’m familiar with all the ins and outs. On balance, I can wait a few weeks to be paid four-digit sums if I have to, but I prefer instant pay sites for my daily play.

I don’t always bring all of my reasons to try a new place to the front of my mind, and those I primarily base a decision on are reported here. One thing that sticks out in my mind from other players’ comments, is how “nice” and helpful customer service was. It appeared in several comments even when the player was complaining about a lack of free chips or other bonuses.

I also simply like the theme and can imagine myself wanting to play after a long day at the beach or in the woods and sort of yearning for the comic feel. The sister site, Highway, is as well put together, and the art is absolutely appealing but the theme doesn’t quite “call” to me as this one does.

I really enjoyed this casino and it's kind of quirky nerdy theme! The customer services fantastic and they send you funny messages and emails. Definitely not your standard Casino in that regard! They had a good selection of games and a few great bonuses to offer I haven't had a chance to cash out but from what I've read it seems like a pretty simple and reliable process. As far as I can tell everything is above average here and I definitely suggest giving it a try if you haven't already. How did you enjoy it as much as I have!

comic play with its comic book style has proven to be an evolving casino. I have played and withdrawn twice and the withdrawal takes approximately 3 days to be processed and up to 24 hours to reflect in the account. Without a doubt it is a good casino.

I've played a variety of games, and there's something for everyone. The selection is fun and keeps things interesting. I've also made a few withdrawals, and the process has been smooth with no problems. Overall, I'm happy with the game choices and how easy it is to cash out.

Not the greatest selection of games. Decent sign up bonus and free spins. No issues, wasn't the best, wasn't the worst. Probably wouldn't spend money to play here. Middle of the road casino, just meh.

I would never deposit at a casino that doesn't allow me my last spin. Why do they do that? If they act that way with the welcome bonus, what's going to happen when they have control over my money? Casino was it anything special, and I hate when I cannot sort the games. 1300 games that you have to load a page at a time. Wasn't a fan of the anything there except I do like some rival games.

Like the theme of the casino. Haven’t deposited or played in a while my faves stick out in my head others just kind of fall away unless there was an issue. Think I’ll try and look into this one again.

I really love the theme of this casino. Same games I'm used to at so many others. Good bonuses and chat was fairly quick and responsive compared to others. Would come back
