World Casino Directory

How we rate casinos

Every World Casino Directory (WCD) rating is our own judgement. A WCD editor checks the casino on the day it is scored and gives it one score from 1.0 to 5.0, in steps of 0.1. The score is never copied from another website's rating.

The six criteria

The editor scores each criterion from 1 to 5. The WCD score is the weighted total, rounded to one decimal.

CriterionWeightWhat a 5 looks likeWhat a 1 looks like
Licence and safety 25% Licensed by a strict regulator (UKGC, MGA, Ontario, Sweden, etc.), clear company details, SSL, responsible-gambling tools No licence, or the licence can't be verified; company unknown
Payouts 20% Fast withdrawals (under 48 h for e-wallets), fair limits, no withdrawal fees, clear KYC rules Slow or capped payouts, hidden fees, repeated delays
Bonus fairness 15% Wagering at 35x or less, clear terms, no max-cashout traps Wagering above 50x, unclear or unfair terms
Games and software 15% Large library from well-known providers, live casino, audited RNG Small library, unknown or unaudited providers
Support and usability 10% 24/7 live chat, fast replies, works well on mobile Email only, slow or no replies, hard to use
Complaints and reputation 15% Few complaints, resolved fairly; no blacklist entries Many unresolved complaints or a blacklist entry

WCD score = sum of (criterion score × weight), rounded to one decimal. For example, scores of 4, 3, 4, 5, 4 and 3 give a WCD score of 3.8.

How our editors score a casino

  • They check the casino live: they open the site, read the terms, test the support chat and look at recent complaints on AskGamblers, Casino Guru and the LCB forum.
  • They write two or three sentences on the casino's page explaining the score, including the main reason for any criterion scored 1 or 2.
  • Every score shows the editor's name and the date it was scored. We rescore each casino every 12 months, or sooner after a licence change, a payout scandal or a blacklist entry.
  • Casinos we have a business relationship with are scored the same way. A commercial deal never changes a score.
  • A closed or blacklisted casino gets no score. Its page shows its status instead.

WCD rating and partner-site ratings

Some casino pages also show ratings from our partner sites. Those come from the partner sites, not from WCD's editors, and they are listed separately from the WCD rating.
