Simple games

Retro Wheels was chosen from the Mobile category and loaded fairly quickly in a popup browser without asking for Flash or any other sort of plug-in permissions.

Concerned that the Mobile section was the only place for HTML5 games, we took a quick trip to "All" and located a game that was not repeated in the Mobile category.

Thankfully that opened as HTML5 as well, so all games should be available to users on any device. However, as seen below, some games are in Flash and require permission.

Retro Wheels offers players a few options including bet size and preset increments for the number of lines to be played.

Coin values range from 0.01 EUR to 1.00 EUR each and line counts of 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50 are available for each game.

These options are not available in the base game user interface, rather they are found by selecting the Coin + icon near the upper right-hand corner.

Below that is the spin button which only works to spin the reels, not to stop them. It also doesn't allow you to bypass any win tallies and spin again. You must wait until the last spin is paid before activating the reels again.

Below that is an autoplay facility. The adjustable parameters are the number of spins and a single win limit.

Near the upper left, you'll find an information icon that will launch paytable, pay line, and any bonus mechanic information. This particular game had a wild symbol that appears only on the central reel in stacks as well as a scatter symbol.

The scatter icon was not delineated, so we assume it was the Star symbol or possibly the Flaming 7. However, like the Wild symbol, the 7s can appear stacked.

After more than a hundred spins with no scatter win we were left to assume the Star is a scatter since it commonly is in European slots, they do not appear stacked on the reels, and the pay for 3, 4, and 5 instances is 2, 20, and 500 which would most likely be x total stake.

Hotlines 34 Go

Next, we chose a game with a unique reel set and an innovative number of pay lines.

Hotlines 34 Go is also a 5-reel game but there are 3 positions on the leftmost reel, four on the second reel, three on the central, four on the fourth, and three on the fifth for a reel set of 3, 4, 3, 4, 3.

Pays are from left to right or right to left, but five of a kind is only counted one way.

Again we have wild symbols that only appear on reel #3. However, there's also a special symbol that appears on reels 1 and 5 and can appear stacked. Landing at least one on each of the outside reels will award "freewins" the number of wins depends on the position of the scatters.

They act somewhat like a wild symbol transforming other symbols on the pay line to award wins based on the highest paying symbol on the reels when they appear. One to six freewins will be awarded when two appear.

It's a colorful game with mesmerizing sound effects. The user controls are standard for Kajot slots but the interface has more familiar mobile gaming icons.

The pay line configuration is fixed and available bets for the game range from 0.10 EUR to to 80.00 EUR per spin.

It's a nice pub-style game with a very minor twist in the freewins feature that keeps the experience alive.

Turbo 27

As the name would indicate, this is a 3 reel, 3 position game with all ways paying from left to right for 3 matching adjacent symbols. The icons are stacked so it's possible to spin a set with all 27 virtual pay lines factored in the win.

If you get a full screen or 9 identical symbols that also doubles your win for a bonus.

The game has several other fun features. A gambling game of double or nothing is offered after each winning spin. If you get lucky and a blue symbol appears instead of black or red it will lock in your win for that stage so you can risk as much as you like and never lose those banked wins. If the blue symbol appears again, your winnings are locked in at that level.

Any time an "R" appears during a winning spin, all wins are doubled.

Feature game - Whenever the symbols "TU", "R", and "BO" appear you will receive 10 free spins.

The GUI of this game is completely different from the other two which presented minor variations on a theme. Turbo 27 offers all of the player controls in a standard one-deck format so there's no need to go into menus to affect simple changes such as bet level.

You will need to wait for each winning combination to be tallied before you can gamble or collect and move along to the next spin.

While the enhancements to this game sound good on paper, there's a sort of disconnect when playing it as they don't appear to activate very often.

Gods of Egypt

We were pleasantly surprised to find a 4 reel game with 11 pay lines when we opened Gods of Egypt. 4x3 reel sets are not used very often so it's nice to find one. The line count is a bit unique as well, opting for the symmetrical balance of 11 lines, or 10 (which has no mate) plus line #1.

The animated splash screen of this game was a welcome surprise as well after the colorful presentations before and when the game opened the artwork was true to the introduction.

Without looking at a paytable we played enough to determine the Scarab beetle is wild and wins involving character icons added value to a sort of path or ladder. When the top of the ladder was reached the next win paid 2x, a new screen took us into a tomb and presented a new backdrop with its own hieroglyphics. The new gameworld promised x3 when that path was completed.

"Bonus Game: Move through the three rooms of the pyramid, because after each win you come one step closer to the treasure chamber. If all of the hieroglyphs light up, you will receive a double, triple, or even a four-fold multiplier on your next win."

Activating symbols on the reels do not need to match the hieroglyphics that award progress on the ladder leading to an increased multiplier.

Changing your bet level will restart the path at the new stake. If you later return to a previous bet level, your progress will be waiting. It's unclear if that is only from game to game or if it holds over for another login.

This game became an immediate favorite and reason enough to return to the website later. Nearly filling the screen with Anubi icons on a 10 EUR (fun) bet may have something to do with the infatuation, but it would have been a favorite anyway.

After completing the 4x play you are returned to stage one to begin the journey over again.

Blackjack

The sole card and table game available here is blackjack. 

It's a simple affair and dealt from a shoe of 4 decks shuffled after every round. Players can bet on 1-3 hands per game.

Dealer sticks on 17, one split any pair, one card per split Ace, double on 9, 10, or 11, insurance pays 2:1, pushes push, and an even money bet is offered if you have blackjack and the dealer shows an Ace. Win 1:1 whether the dealer blackjacks or not.

While we would have been quite happy with the game selection even if it was all an assortment of Euro-pub slot clones - it was nice to find diversity in almost every game.
