Ace Pokies Review Jump to comments
Ace Pokies is an online gaming site launched in 2017 that offers over 300 casino games on the Realtime Gaming (RTG) platform. As the name indicates, the site is focused on Australian players. The only currency accepted is AUD. Bitcoin (BTC) is also accepted. While some reviews indicate that US players using BTC are welcome, we were unable to register from an American IP address located in a non-regulated state. We were able to access the sign-up form from Asia and Europe. The instant play suite is available for mobile and desktop browser play. A download client with all games is available for PC.
If you are not familiar with the game and platform provider, you can find many trusted sites by checking out our RTG Game reviews.
If you are familiar with the games please read on to learn more about AcePokies. RTG is not a publicly traded company and as far as we know, no Realtime Gaming sites pulled out of Terra Australis when the new law came into effect.
Some of the first things we like to cover in these in-depth critical reviews are ownership and licensing. Unfortunately, that information is not easy to obtain from this site. Deep in the Privacy Policy, we were able to find a reference to the owner where it says, "La Riviera will not... sell, trade or rent any... personal information". A quick look at the Affiliate Program page shows Riviera Rewards. A deeper look shows that at least the marketing is done by the same people who bring you La Riviera and CasinoClic.
You can see all casinos listed here that take players from Australia
There are many online sites that operate without divulging ownership or even displaying their Curacao license and they run from "great" to "iffy" to complete ripoffs. It is rare to find one in the latter category because most scams at least need a semblance of authenticity in order to dupe an unwary mark. As long as they aren't laundering money, and do proper due diligence in the KYC (know your customer) department, Curacao will license just about anybody willing to go through the process. In short, the lack of a clickable license may be a flag, but it doesn't have to be a deal-breaker.
From top to bottom, you will not find a license at Slot'o Cash, nor a single valid unresolved payment complaint since they launched a decade ago. The same goes for Lincoln launched in 2013, or other WGS brands. You might find affiliate/marketer complaints, but we're concerned with player safety here, track records, and if we would play here.
If you look deep enough you will find most if not all of the Grand Prive and other single platforms using BetOnSoft/Saucify (Genii) properties licensed by CIL. But you won't see any Curacao badge or emblem displayed on their landing pages.
If you look a lot deeper you will find, among the hundreds or thousands of "sub-licensed" properties, many that don't deserve your deposits. The point is, we need to go to company reputation and history for sites licensed in most jurisdictions outside of the UK or Kahnawake. If the site is new, we need to look at other properties they operate.
La Riviera (Lariviere) has resolved complaints about slow pay and unresolved complaints about no pay. The OZ site reviewed here has no complaints that we have found for payout issues.
Games and Software
RTG! If you don't have at least one go-to RTG casino in your arsenal you are missing out. From random jackpots to Network progressive worth over AU$1 million, to the original retro video poker, and slots made in Sydney by Dynamite, this is legacy single platform gambling at its finest!
Bonuses and Promotions
The current offer is a generous welcome bonus and you are sure to find a decent match offer even if that changes, tournaments if you download the PC lobby and plenty of incentives to play if you access the site using a desktop browser or mobile device. Wagering requirements are fairly high on bonuses but statistically beatable with a little luck. One of the strangest things we found in all of their terms was that the "verification deposit" on what they call free spins increases with the amount you win. Android and iOS specific bonuses.
Banking and Customer Service
Australian Dollars only. Debit/Credit cards and some wallets are accepted. Skrill was not available upon launch but check back if that is your only method of banking. Deposit minimums are 'normal', withdrawal terms are oddly worded and not very transparent. We do find a max cashout of 20x deposits for anyone who hasn't put at least $100 into play - with or without a bonus.
Support is available 24/7. Live chat, email and toll-free phone are available for any questions.
Pitfalls
Terms are fairly obscure and opaque. You may spend quite a bit of time pouring over them before you get your bearings. Presumed operating company may not have settled all outstanding complaints of sister-sites. The amount you can withdraw per week is based on "player class" but we were not able to find any qualifying information on what that actually means. "Cashback" is not cash-back, but a bonus with wagering requirements and a max cashout.
The Final Analysis
For all of Ace Pokies' negatives and positives, their greatest asset seems to be the software. The random number generator (RNG) is tested and certified, the casino cannot manipulate the outcomes. Some RTG sites use every possible manipulation to part you from your money. If the games themselves could be manipulated, why would there be so many places to play that go for the "gotcha"? We do find some odd T&C here, but no "traps" that can't be easily avoided by reading the terms.
Would I play here? That's a little tougher. Like you, my government doesn't look out for me so there is no nanny telling me what I can do. $20? Yes, I would deposit and trust them that far and see how it goes. I wouldn't take a bonus. Any place that makes me deposit $1,000 to cash out $1,000 in "free spin" winnings has work to do in that department. A no-bonus deposit and a flutter on my terms would be in order.
