Vegas Rio Casino Review Jump to comments
Vegas Rio Casino is an online gaming site with certified random number generator (RNG) gambling games. Players in the USA, Canada, New Zealand, and elsewhere are all welcome to play for real money here. Look for 3D slots from Betsoft as well as titles from Dragon Gaming. Depending on your location, Felix Gaming slots will be available too.
We don’t find a live dealer suite but there are plenty of Betsoft table games as well as a few from Dragon.
Ownership and management are currently unknown and no license is displayed on the website. However, game selection, layout, and Terms and Conditions are the same or highly similar to those found at Bobby and VIP Casino Royale but each site has its own marketing arm and affiliate program so we can’t say for sure that they are related beyond sharing a common platform..
We don’t find any unresolved complaints but there have been grumbles on some of the advocate forums by people who claimed they completed wagering on a free chip and haven’t received a payout. The operator doesn’t seem to be active in responding to posts so we can’t determine if the player was legit, a multi-accounter, played restricted games, or broke any other terms or restrictions.
The cashier section currently lists three types of credit/debit cards and Bitcoin as deposit methods. AmEx, Visa, and Mastercard are accepted. Wire transfers and Bitcoin wallets are listed as withdrawal methods.
Bonuses are found throughout the site with generous welcome offers and ongoing promotions. Many of the incentives include complimentary spins in addition to percentage matches. All that we saw also included max cashout terms but please be sure to check the offers and terms at the top of this page or when you visit to learn all you will need to know as each offer is slightly different.
Since there is no known history to draw from with this brand beyond one grumble and one cashout question that was resolved in the player’s favor within 2 days, we’ll review the software and games and go through all of the pertinent terms we find including document verification and payout times. If we find anything out of the ordinary or that is unclear, we’ll make a note of those items so you know what to look out for and can determine if the term or condition might affect your particular situation.
Software and Games
The site is laid out with minimalism as a feature. Each area of interest has a link and the categories are intuitively obvious. Since there are only a few providers we don’t find complicated game sorting or filtering beyond the initial categories. Simply choose a promotion if you want a bonus, go to the cashier, make your deposit, and set off to play!
The lobby opens with a selection of New Games and gives visitors the option to refine their search by choosing All Games, Featured Games, Slots, Table Games, and Video Poker. Visit any of those categories or begin typing the title of a known or favorite slot or other game in the text box (magnifying glass icon) to see the results.
Visiting from a desk in the USA, we found that all slots except those from Felix Gaming had a “Play Now” button and a link to “Play for Fun”.
Oddities in the categorization of games include scratch cards being included with slots rather than having their own category, and video poker residing in its own directory but only containing one game. Those anomalies might be geo-specific, but we mention them to help avoid confusion or frustration as typing “Scratch card” in the search box doesn’t yield any results.
Featured games
This section is at least two pages long so when you get to the bottom of the first page you can click to load more games. Some of the games toward the top of the page are outsized and draw a visitor’s attention. These are likely a few of the most popular games but another calculus could be used to present the titles. It’s not possible to cross-check that assumption without “Popular” or “Hot” games categories to compare.
When we visited, the outsized Featured game icons were It’s a Joker (Felix Gaming), Alkemor’s Elements, 88 Frenzy Fortune, and Lost: Mystery Chests all from Betsoft. Toward the bottom of the page - and again this may have been geo-specific for players in the USA, we found a selection of Slot Machines by Felix such as The Wild Beast of Crete, Dark Mystic, and Deep Blue Jackbomb.
Betsoft slots
Most players in the US and other underserved regions are familiar with Betsoft games. Many of them have an “interactive” element with a host character, in-theme, providing reactions to game events and generally creating a fun experience.
The themes run the gamut from the usual to the unique and not all games employ the same user interface's interactive formula. Maths are highly variable between games with some, such as Good Girl Bad Girl allowing players to choose low, medium, or high volatility in the base game and by extension, in bonus play.
Some games allow you to purchase wild symbols or wild reels after a paid spin. The cost to do so depends on the odds of the modified spin creating a better spin or even a windfall payout. The maths are too complicated for this reviewer to analyze whether it’s a one-to-one ratio or if it is better to avoid those features.
In general, if the game is provided in a range of RTP (theoretical return to player percentages) it’s possible that some bets will be better than others. However, we have to keep in mind that even Malta (MGA) licensed game suppliers are allowed to offer operators a range of RTP for any game as long as it doesn’t fall below the now-standardized 85%. That is still 10 pp better than games in Las Vegas or anywhere else in Nevada are allowed to return at a minimum.
While we can’t be sure about where or even whether the gaming site is licensed, we do know that Betsoft games are verified by all leading certification houses including QUINEL, GLI, and iTech Labs. This assures that the theoretical RTP will come in line with the actual RTP over the course of time - the volatility of the game determines how long that will take.
Highly volatile games can be tested over millions of spins while low-risk titles will come within the mean, within a standard deviation much quicker. It is virtually impossible for any player - even one who has spun 10,000 times in a row on the same game - to determine RTP with any statistical certainty. Noticing variance or volatility is not as difficult though and some clues can be found in the paytables.
With a game like Good Girl, Bad Girl players simply choose to bet on left-to-right combinations (low volatility), right-to-left paylines (highly volatile) or play both ways to achieve medium volatility on average. You will still have the same number of lower-value wins left to right but gameplay will be supercharged now and then with bigger wins from right to left. The trade-off will be that most Bad Girl spins will return little or nothing. When they do pay out, they should be more lucrative.
Dragon Gaming slots
Dragon Gaming is a Manila-based company that has been supplying the online casino market since 2019. Prior to that, since 2004, they were a bespoke development lab for another well-known slot provider. In addition to slots they also provide a small handful of RNG digital table games, a few can be found here. Look for baccarat, blackjack, and a couple of roulette variants - European and American wheels - tables, and odds, as well as three-card poker.
As an Eastern-based company whose original markets were in Asia, you will still find a great selection of Asian-themed slots in the lobby from the developer. This is also the provider of most if not all of the scratch card games here. All told, they currently have about 60 games in the Vegas Rio lobby.
Look for slot titles like American Diner, Mafia Family, and Zombie Invasion alongside older games like Play with Cleo (slots and scratch), Basketball Legends, and Panda Playtime. You can read a brief but exclusive interview with Dragon Gaming here.
The games are presented in a 16:9 aspect ratio when played in landscape mode on a mobile device. The games we looked at closely for display quality were in High Definition with a full 2560x1440 display. That sort of resolution is going to sparkle whether you are using a desktop, laptop, portable projector, or the highest-quality handheld device.
The company asserts that its games are all tested and certified. However, no link to a certificate or license is provided on the official website. They state the following:
“We build our games in HTML5, on a (proprietary) fully certified and independently tested RNG.”
Felix Gaming slots
Felix is a small studio with about a dozen team members established in Sofia, Bulgaria in 2016. The lab and studio seem to have been a spin-off of CT Gaming, but nothing exists in the public domain to indicate any financial or other control interests in it by the two-decades-old company formerly known as Computer Technology.
Wild Beast of Crete, It’s a Joker, and Book of Anunnaki Hyperjump are my favorite titles but there are plenty more to choose from.
Book of Anunnaki has an RTP of 95.87% and contains all of the elements of most “Book of” games and a “HyperJump” feature. Players can go straight past no-win spins for an even more exciting experience. In essence, it puts you on hyperspeed to simply skip non-winning spins, and the game displays the first win rather than all the dead spins.
With 10 paylines, a max bet of €60.00 per spin, and a top prize of 5,000x total bet, this is a game for the serious player as well as the casual slot spinner doing €0.20 spins.
Visitors might want to try Wild Beast of Crete. I find the gameplay smooth and engaging and the only thing that annoys me at all is that the engine insists on animating any win, even if just for one second before you can spin again. That’s not much to complain about but it might be worth mentioning for readers who share my pet peeve with me.
The RTP on this game is a little lower at 92.5% but the stacked/expanding wilds and 243 ways to win layout along with all the other animations and non-annoying sound effects including win celebrations make me really like this game.
Bonuses and Promotions
Please see the top of this page for current offers and basic bonus terms. These can change often as can the general terms so please be sure to check them rather than rely 100% on what is related in this review. This is a snapshot in time.
We found a variety of rich first deposit incentives including a three-stage welcome bonus package.
One thing that sticks out about the welcome package is that it is promoted on-site disingenuously. Rather than breaking out each of the three offers individually, they add percentages together as if that is the way math or reality works. That’s not how it works. For example, three 100% bonuses are not a 300% bonus as three €100 deposits would net €300 total for a 100% total overall match. So please look at each individual offer and judge it on its own merit.
That said, the next thing that hops out of the terms is not just how impressively high some of these matches are without added wagering requirements, but the fact that each one has a max cashout of 10x deposit. That piqued an interest in more terms and we found that no matter whether you take a bonus or not, the most you can cash out on any deposit is 10x the deposit.
That makes it worthwhile to use big match bonuses if you are going to deposit but it also, arguably, makes the site not really a casino but a pay-to-play entertainment center or a place to get amusement with limited prizes.
The current basic terms require wagering of 30x deposit plus bonus and all examples are only presented for 100% match bonus as such: “... must wager the total of their deposit ($30.00) plus the bonus ($30.00). Before cashing out, wager 30 times on slots…”
Offers of a $25 free chip or 25 free spins have no cashable value but other no-deposit offers can cash out as much as €100 even if the chip is more than €100.
Bonuses are non-cashable. Only the money won wagering with them can be withdrawn.
Tables and other games require 60x wagering. This is much better than some offers that only weight certain games at 5% (20x slots wagering) or prohibit the use of any coupon for table games or video poker. Unfortunately, we only find one VP title, Deuces Wild. It’s not the absolute best Betsoft paytable but it is also far from the worst at 1-2-3-4-4-9-15-25-200-800 and 98.91% RTP according to the Wizard of Odds.
Look for odd jargon such as “free processors" (assume free chip or spins?), and “No Play/No Max bonuses” which have extremely convoluted and seemingly contradictory terms attached.
With max cashout provisions and a relatively low 30x wagering requirement, bonus players’ best bet might be the highest percentage match possible in hopes of cashing out more often than one out of every ten deposits.
Banking and Customer Service
As reviewed, the cashier section includes deposit options such as American Express (AmEx) Visa, Mastercard, and Bitcoin. The system will only process deposits between $30 and $200 but multiple transactions are allowed.
Bitcoin and bank wires are offered for withdrawals. Document verification is required and the longest it could take for a first withdrawal is 21 days due to risk compliance and KYC (document verification) expect future withdrawals to be processed in 2 - 3 days.
The minimum withdrawal is not listed on the site and the maximum is stated as being determined by the amount of the deposit. Most withdrawals will be processed via BTC, according to the terms but they may choose to pay back to credit cards at their sole discretion.
We don’t find a FAQ on the site but email contacts are provided and live chat is ever-present.
Pitfalls
- Odd marketing math (adding bonus percentages together)
- Limited banking options
- Long first withdrawal approval time (<21 days for 1st withdrawal for KYC)
- Max cashout on all deposits (10x)
- Non-transparent operator (no license or ownership listed)
The Final Word
Vegas Rio Casino offers an interesting assortment of slots and table games from Betsoft, Dragon Gaming, and Felix Gaming. The combination is a good mix with a variety of themes, math models, and bonus mechanics.
While we only find one video poker title, it is a good game, and although there are no live dealer tables, the Betsoft suite of RNG tables games with some Dragon Gaming mixed in offers over a dozen choices from Pontoon and Oasis Poker to Pai Gow and Three Card Rummy and plenty of other choices like blackjack, roulette, and baccarat.
The software seems to run just fine on a slow connection as well as when speeds are blazing since it is all browser-based HTML5 instant play the games load quickly without burdening mobile phone memory or taxing the battery much with excessive local processing.
The bonuses and cashout limits are, well, interesting and present a whole new calculation for seasoned gamblers. Those who like to get in as many spins as possible can take a huge bonus and play low volatility games like the Good Girl side on Betsoft’s Good Girl Bad Girl slot and mostly likely hardly ever achieve 10x their deposit at the end of wagering. Big risk-takers, those who like highly volatile games like the Bad Girl side, might be better off tempering their stakes by choosing both sides and achieving thrills through medium volatility.
Table players can more easily beat the bonus for maximum profit due to the relatively low table games wagering requirement on all but free chips of $50 and under. Comparing the bonus wagering of 60x d+b for video poker with 98.91% RTP to any other site with 30x wagering but a 5% coefficient (20x30xd+b WR) makes a table games bonus here much more sensible than almost anywhere else.
The operator could improve efficiency considerably by subscribing to a more efficient KYC document verification service to speed up first withdrawals and possibly process other payouts quicker. Some operators will do KYC in a matter of days not weeks and some pay Bitcoin the same day and sometimes within minutes. Of course, those are the exception rather than the rule but payout times could stand some improvement.
I’ll leave the matter of 10x max cashout from any deposit to the reader. Perhaps it is a poorly written term and I misunderstand it, and perhaps it is a risk-limiting term to ensure the operator remains liquid and able to pay out all wins with certainty. It’s something I’ve rarely run across until recently so I’ll leave it at that. Again, most players rarely break the mark of 10x deposit and cash out but if you do, this might not be the best fit for you. Different strokes for different folks. As long as you know that going in, it’s all good.
