About the Company

Felix Gaming is a small but dedicated online casino games developer. With less than ten team members and a solid distribution system, the company focuses on player-driven game concepts.

Founded in Sophia, Bulgaria in 2016 by CEO Bilyan Balinoff and R&D specialist Anton Mutov, the firm's tagline is "Players Only".

A third creator is mentioned in company lore, Dimitar Dimitrov.

All three of the originators share a common past in the industry, but Dimitrov is the only one still employed with Casino Technology (CT).

CT is a worldwide developer, manufacturer, and provider of casino slot machines and games for the land-based industry and has its own portfolio of more than 100 HTML5 games.

The team's ability to launch games early on Alea's platform gave them the opportunity to hone their business philosophy of listening to player feedback to drive game development.

SlotsMillion was the first to carry their games. While the portfolio was and remains small, the unique games were able to attract attention among thousands of others and the massive platform.

Later distribution deals include Groove Gaming, the iGaming Platform (iGP), and SoftSwiss, as well as direct provenance to casinos like King Billy, Nordicasino, and Tropezia Palace to name a few.

Across the globe, more than 60 gaming sites carry the games. No mean feat for a company born when three work buddies sitting in a coffee shop in Sophia asked themselves what was missing, and realized that nobody was asking the players what they wanted.

Software and Games

While we find about 15 online releases throughout history, less than a dozen are currently featured on the company's website.

The games are all produced and delivered in the omnichannel HTML5 machine language for play on any device from a casino floor console to your handset, laptop, or desktop computer.

The device operating system is not important as the games are played online in any modern web browser and don't require memory draining or sometimes insecure plugins like Flash to run.

The company focuses exclusively on slots with no table or card games in development.

The range of themes, narratives, and math models is good for such a small collection. Titles include Light Dance, Dark Mystic, Fruity Mania, and Pharaoh's Temple. It's a Joker and Red Lion among others.

Dark Mystic is a 5x3 dragon-themed game with 10 variable paylines. The top-line win is 5,000x line bet. The jackpot is awarded for five treasure chest symbols on a pay line.

Features include cascading reels (Reel Refill), stacked symbols, stacked wilds, and random reel-filling wild dragons.

While 5,000x may be the most you can win per line, filling the reels with treasure chest icons would award 5,000x total bet.

While the lack of features such as escalating multipliers with each reel refill, scatters, or bonus spins with multipliers may lead one to believe it is a low to medium variance game, it is most definitely far right on the volatility index with a 75,000.00 jackpot possible on a 15.00 bet.

Juicy Wilds: Hyper Jump is a 5x3 with 20 paylines and a unique "get it done" feature in the Hyper Jump mechanic.

Simply activate the feature to skip all non-winning spins and jump right to a winning pull.

This is truly a feature for very few players to use. You will feel your gut fall to the floor as the game counter cycles through your games and then rise with elation when it hits a bonus or amazing spin.

It's not for everyone. Of course, we tried it by reducing the line count to 6-lines, the coin denomination to 0.05, and the coin count per line to 30 for a total super high variance bet of 9.00 per spin (about 1% of bankroll) for 100 games (10% of total bankroll on one spin).

Our results...

Three bonus spin rounds with sticky wilds and added games, and one pick-me bonus. Our bankroll varied from plus 25% to minus 25%.

This exercise taught us that the fast-forward stops when you hit a feature and has to be reactivated.

The pick-me bonus (10x to 200x) is also active during bonus spins.

In all, it's a nearly thrilling game that lands in the camp of exciting but not thrilling as you have to return to the HyperJump feature to complete your spins.

We preferred Book of Anunnaki in the HyperJump series simply because it seems to be a more sophisticated slot with special expanding symbols chosen at the beginning of the feature. Each retrigger also adds an additional expanding symbol.

Light Dance 3D is a neon-juiced glow stick-vibed dance floor-driven game with 5 reels and 3 rows.

The virtual paylines amount to 243 ways to win from leftmost to the right with at least 3 matching symbols on adjacent reels.

No bonus or scatter symbols come into play here, but it pulls off some unique mechanics in their stead.

Magic Reels will synchronize with the same symbols after you notice the neon glow.

A neon Guy Fawkes mask is the wild symbol and it multiplies all wins by 2x in the base game and bonus spins.

The Starboy free spins are triggered after collecting enough five-of-a-kind wins anywhere on the reels at the same bet level. Changing bets will reset the collectibles.

This feature kind of tanks because you can't load up potential free spins at different bet levels. Once you change your stake the collection is lost without warning and does not reactivate when you go back to that bet level.

Autoplay would be good here so you don't forget and change your bet before triggering the feature spins. While you can't collect extra items, you can skip the win celebration for existing accessories in Auto-play mode by clicking the "spin" button.

Dress the Starboy in shoes, gloves, a wristband, a hat, etc to trigger the bonus games.

Free games are paid at 3x (6x with wild) and feature a beat dancer going across the screen with each bonus spin.

The paytable leaves out many important nuances but tells the story fairly well - except that the clunker bet change function could mention you will lose any progress at another bet level.

Our favorite so far...

The Wild Beast of Crete features their best art and feature mechanics to date.

With 243 ways to win, scatters on 3 reels to trigger bonus games, random wild symbols on reels 1, 3, and 5 that hold and respin the rest of the reels up to 3 times, and full wild reel characters on reels 1 and 5 during bonus spins, this game provides excellent entertainment.

The animations, sound effects, high potential payouts, and unique take on an otherwise tired theme make this our current favorite game from the developers.

The Final Analysis

For a small producer, Felix creates and delivers an ever-improving suite of games to rival the biggest labs and most talented studios in the industry.

Each game tries to present something unique even when it is in the maths rather than the mechanics.
