It’s time once again go into the world of magical forests and enigmatic creatures in search of riches and wonderment.

A popular theme to be sure, with many different titles coming out over the years exploring this particular area. Creatures of the myths are a big part of the fantasy genre and have become a mainstay in many types of media from films to video games and yes, even slots.

Rocksalt Interactive, an outfit from India who is known for work on many kinds of games and digital media, has expanded into the real money gambling area by producing games for the igaming company Nektan

Theme

As soon as you start this game, you will notice how colorful it is with rich hues of yellow and red jumping out immediately from the background.

It’s all clearly set in some kind of magical place where glowing mushrooms exist in tandem with more common flora such as trees and vines.

The second thing you will notice is the full rendering of an imp done in 3D hovering merrily to the left of the playing area. Her animation has a lot of character and is very dynamic and will change based on what’s happening in the game.

When it comes to symbols…

…they are modeled on fantasy-style items such as magic potions, glowing orbs, diamond rings made out of enchanted wood, and glowing mushrooms (magical, of course).

Everything is light and colorful and infused with a sense of magic. While not exactly the most original of settings, as evidenced by the number of similarly-themed games out there, it has enough of its own charm to keep from being derivative.

Betting Options and Functions

Magical forest or no, there still have to be some rules. And this particular forest has a 5x3 grid and 20 fixed paylines.

Also, even imaginary beings have to eat so they charge admission in the form of a minimum bet of 20 cents. Of course, you can choose a higher one all the way up to the maximum bet of 60 dollars.

There is, of course, autospin which has all the options that you might expect from a modern game. A quick spin button is offered as well to those who are just far too busy to sit through an entire spin animation.

Special Features

So, what have the Rocksalt Interactive cooked up features-wise? Quite a lot, actually. Beginning the feature showcase, we have the Emerald Reel which introduces fully stacked wilds once enough crystal flowers are collected. The stacked wilds can come with multipliers and once unlocked remain unlocked for the given bet level.

Also, the titular character will sometimes appear on the reels herself and when she does, she removes all the low paying signs presumably because they offend her in some way. But this is good news for punters because those low paying items will be replaced by high paying ones bringing the possibility of a higher win.

Finally, if you thought you could run away to the woods to escape extra spins – you were wrong. Extra spins are present and accounted for and will get you once three scatter books appear and award 10 spins.

During this mode, the objective is to save the flying creatures from the jars by collecting three stars. Each unlocked jar will turn one or more low paying symbols into wilds and will also give out more spins.

Our Take

A very solid effort from Rocksalt, featuring a familiar theme seen in recent offerings like this one from PG Soft but taking it for a good spin and adding some nice gimmicks and features to keep it as fresh as it can be.

No reason to give this one a miss, especially if you’re a fan of colorful and bright titles with a soothing atmosphere.
