French Roulette is likely the least popular version of roulette. Perhaps this is due to the fact that bets are usually in French and many don’t understand the table layout. It’s sad because French Roulette offers some bets not found in other forms of roulette that can be quite profitable.

Real time Gaming has their own version of French Roulette that makes playing easy for anyone. Even if you don’t speak French. The bets are still labeled in French; but, you can clearly see wat you are betting on when you hover over each part of the betting table.

For example

If you wanted to bet on a “Pair” bet, when you hover over this spot of the table, it highlights all the numbers you will be betting on.

You still need to understand all the little nuances that come along with French Roulette, especially the unique bets that can only be made in this version of the game. So, let’s go over every detail and get you up to speed with Real Time Gaming’s version of French Roulette.

Bet Names

Although knowing the French names of each bet is not necessary to play the game, it’s still nice to know what they mean. Here we will layout the bet names. The French name on the left and the English translation on the right.

Impair – Odd

Pair – Even

Rogue ou Noir – Red or Black

Premiiere Douzaine – 1-12

Moyenne Douzaine – 13-24

Derniere Douzaine – 25-36

Passé – 19-36

Manqué – 1-18

That covers the outside bets which are more common. The inside bets are straightforward and play like European and American Roulette. Inside will be single number bets, splits, corners and so on.

Additional Bets

Along with the standard bets found in all Roulette games, French Roulette has some additional bets that can only be made in this version. Each requires an exact chip amount and will cover specific groups of numbers for each bet. These are called neighbor and call bets.

In Real Time Gaming version of French Roulette, these bets are found by clicking on the tab that says “Neighbor and call bets”. Once this tab pops up on the table, you will see all the different bets you can place.

When you hover each optional bet, it will highlight the numbers that each bet covers. You will also see how many chips are required for each bet. A bet that requires 4 chis will place the same denomination chip on each number that bet covers.

Example

If you pick a bet that requires 3 chips, and you are betting $5 chips; you will be placing $15 worth of bets on the table. Simple math, but important to understand.

The standard bets that are most common in French Roulette are the group bets on the wheel.

Voisins du Zero – This bet covers a large portion of the wheel. Numbers that will be bet on are 22, 18, 29, 7, 28, 12, 35, 3, 26, 0, 32, 15, 19, 4, 21, 2, 25.

Orphans – This bet covers the following numbers. 1, 20, 14, 31, 9

Tiers du Cylindre – 33, 16, 24, 5, 10, 23, 8, 30, 11, 36, 13, 27

Orphans – 17, 34, 6

You may notice that French Roulette only has a single zero on the wheel. This is actually a big difference in this version. Having a single zero lowers the house edge by almost half over its American counterpart.

Hot and Cold Numbers

Inside the Neighbor and Call Bets tab, you will also see hot and cold numbers. This is where you can see what numbers have been hitting more often; and those which have not hit very often.

Customization

Real Time Gaming’s version of French Roulette has features that allow you to customize your play. There is an auto play feature that lets you bet specific bets for a certain number of spins in a row.

You can also save betting patterns that you find lucky, or just use a lot. This lets you import the saved bets into the auto play feature. And also save time from having to re-click those numbers every single spin. Once the bet pattern is saved, you can access in the favorites tab and just click on the saved bet you want.

Conclusion

French Roulette shouldn’t be a game the scares you off. The bets are mostly the same with addition of a few grouped bets. But even these are easy to understand. Real Time Gaming makes it easy to find all bets by highlighting the numbers or spots on the betting table.

Between being easy to play and the low house edge, French Roulette is a must play for any Roulette enthusiast.
