All bets, no matter the risk vs reward, on a European roulette game have the same house edge (unless a la partage rule is in effect allowing you to keep half your loss on a straight-up bet when the ball falls to the single zero pocket). With the extra green zero space on the American wheel you would expect the house advantage to always be twice as much. There is, however, one bet that is rarely used that puts players at an even greater disadvantage and that is the 5-number bet with a chip on each Zero as well as 1, 2, and 3. This increases the house edge to 7.89%.
There are, however, occasions when it can be used – such as your last chips. Splitting between all these bets will also change your odds a bit and return about 4:1 with five out of thirty-eight chances of it occurring. It is a bad bet but can be successful as seen in the screen shots below. It has been said that the only bad roulette bet is on an American wheel. However some people want that feeling of playing in Vegas. It is simply wise to note, that aside from the 5 number bet your odds are at least twice as good on a European table.
