Time has shown that Microgaming knows how to choose a reliable partner and this time they opted for Half Pixel Studios – one of the youngest independent software developers in the industry.
Retro Galaxy is a product of cooperation of 2 above-mentioned companies that comes with 5 reels, 3 rows, and 243 paylines.
A maximum win of 7.300x the bet could be won through Wilds, scatters, Cascading Reels, multipliers and Free Spins, while the title’s volatility is set as high.
As always, thanks to the HTML5 technology, you will be able to spin these galactic reels even on your mobile devices.
What About The Theme and Symbols?
The title’s theme could be described as a mix of vintage and futuristic elements. Despite the fact that the story takes place in space, the reels come with an old-school touch - transparent reels, neon lights, and simple symbols.
The lower part of the paytable is filled with commonly used royal playing cards (10-A) which can pay up to 1.5x the bet for a combination of 5 aces. If we proceed to the top, we’ll encounter thunders, stars, lucky 7s, BARs, and diamonds worth up to 30x the bet.
Finally, there are wilds and scatters as well. In addition to their triggering function, scatters are the most lucrative symbols in the game – land 5 and you can win 100x the bet.
How Much Can We Bet?
Retro Galaxy features 5 reels, 3 rows, and 243 paylines. The betting range starts at 0.20 coins and goes all the way up to 20 coins per spin.
The title also comes with high volatility, meaning that you’ll need to wait a little bit longer for some bigger wins.
The maximum win of 7.300x the bet is this one-armed bandit’s main highlight, while the RTP of 96.05% will keep things on the safe side.
And What About Special Features?
Wilds will act as regular replacements for all regular symbols (except scatters) and increase your chances to form more winning combinations. Keep in mind that they'll spawn on reels 2, 3, 4, and 5 both during the base game and bonus features.
By landing 3, 4, or 5 scatters, you’ll trigger the Free Spins feature and get 10, 15, or 20 spins free of charge respectively. The good news is that the feature can be re-triggered by landing an additional 5 scatters anywhere on the grid.
But, there’s more. The feature comes with a multiplier trail where the initial one is set at x2 and it can go as high as x15.
Also, the release comes with Rolling Reels (cascading reels). Whenever you form a winning combination, all winning symbols will be removed from the grid allowing new ones to fall on their places. Each roll or cascade will increase a multiplier by 1 up to a maximum of x5.
Let’s Wrap It Up, Shall We?
Even though it’s one of the youngest companies in the industry, Half Pixel Studios did a pretty good job with Retro Galaxy. It seems that they did everything perfectly here – amazing looks, great rewards (7.300x the bet), solid RTP, and a nice mix of bonus features.
