About the Company
Gamzix Technology OÜ is a relatively new online slot development studio launched in 2019. The privately held company has offices in Tallinn, Estonia, and studio facilities in Kyiv, Ukraine.
Aleksandr Kosogov, previously best known for his clothing line and Drift competition ambassadorship as well as Ukrainian National Championship heads up the company.
The studio's first game release was announced in June 2020. The lab's random number generator was certified by iTech Labs a month later.
With several important industry trade shows coming up, it shouldn't be long before we see their games becoming widely deployed as friendships, partnerships, and distribution deals are formed.
The studio recently inked a deal with VLC Management LTD, a commercial iGaming consultancy firm that specializes in getting smaller high-quality game studios the recognition and distribution they deserve.
How does a talented new developer compete to get their games out in front of players around the globe when they don't have a top-heavy industry-experienced management and marketing team?
They go to someone like VLC so they can stay focused on creating great content and let the sales professionals do what they do best. This is what Rome, Italy's highly innovative online game studio development company, Gamshy did.
The entire industry has shifted from single software gaming sites to independent labs, working under their own brands, using remote game servers, aggregator platforms, back-office solutions, etc. It has become an industry of specialists working together to get games from the minds of the creators to the players' browsers.
As we discover operators picking up the games we'll list them below. All casinos are rated by players and ranked by rating. Stick to the top of the list if there's no review and you'll be golden.
Software and Games
The first release of games included five titles - four of them were fruit-themed and the other was based on Ancient Chinese lore. More have been released since then.
All of the company's creations are colorful to look at and vibrant in gameplay. The artwork is almost over the top and full of pizazz, zing, and awesomeness.
They don't tell us anything about what goes into the secret sauce behind the scenes but the games do load into any browser on a mobile device, laptop, or desktop without any plugins or apps needed. They load quickly too, so the game engine is delivering very lean and lightweight HTML5 coding.
Dragon's Secret is a five-reel game with 20 pay lines and a respectable 96.1% return to player percentage (RTP). This is a good number for such a highly volatile game, rating four out of five stars on the risk versus reward index.
It's an understated game with a black background and only a few shades of gray coloring the symbols, accented in gold with the logo and a subdued color scheme highlighting the higher paying symbols.
The score is ominous with sound effects perhaps a bit too loud in contrast when you land a winning line or trigger a feature event.
The spin buttons - one for each bet level - are 100% responsive for starts and stops. You are given a chance to gamble but clicking the spin button will end win celebrations and you can get back to the business of playing post-haste rather than waiting for the moment programmers have decided is best for you.
Wilds and scatter symbols are stacked with wilds appearing on all five reels.
Scatters reside only on the last three reels and it takes 7, 8, or 9 scatters to trigger 10, 20, or 30 free spins, respectively.
When activated, the game also has four progressive jackpots that can be won from within the bonus game.
Simply conjure enough luck to match three cards to win one of the progressive, ever-increasing jackpot prizes. All bet levels have an equal chance of winning the jackpots that range in size from 250.00 to 125,000.00 when set to the factory default seed.
The next game we tried was Gold of Maya. This is a 5 reel, 10 pay line game with RTP of 96.15% and medium volatility. It also has a gamble game and uses the same UI as all of the other slots.
The iconography or symbology includes a Mayan Warrior, skulls, pyramids, parrots, and dreaded sacrificial daggers.
Again, the symbols are set against a strikingly dark background. While the game does employ lower valued playing card symbols such as J, Q, K, A - they are stylized to resemble important spirit animals in Mayan lore and religion.
While the mechanics may not be absolutely new, they are at least "third-generation innovative". What you may know already as cascading reels, this studio calls a "Gap Feature".
As winning lines are formed, the paying symbols will disappear and new icons will fall in to replace them. The first "gap" pays 1x, the next 2x, the next 3x, and all subsequent winning spins, with the streak unbroken by a losing spin, pay 4x.
Scatters reside on reels 2, 3, and 4. Landing one on each reel will activate the feature game which consists of 15 bonus spins with the doubling multipliers starting at 3x. A second subsequent win is paid 6x, and a third 9x, the fourth and all others in the winning streak pay 12x.
The gamble game presents cards of 2 colors. Click one in hopes that the changing middle card is that color and not the other. Gambles can occur 3x.
What I liked in a fixed pay line game was that all of the betting options are on the screen - 10x coin size, 20x, 50x, 100x, and 200x. There's no need to venture into a submenu to change your bet.
What I didn't like is that it has 10 fixed pay lines, even though it looks like it should have 1, 3, 5, 7, or 10. However, the coin size was fixed at 1.00 too, so this may be a feature not deployed in the demo version.
Please see below for any of the other games we have reviewed. Those descriptions will be highly narrative of the feel of the game and will highlight more of the elements important to all players. Multiple screenshots, including paytables, etc., should also be available.
Joker Splash is a classic fruit game with the addition of an expanding wild symbol. 40 Chilli Fruits offers 40 lines of action, high-quality graphics, and high potential payouts.
Really Hot is simply a hot little classic slot with double fruits and bells, much like a Novomatic or EGR title, and Go Wild has respins that just keep on paying.
Banana Bar is their crowning achievement so far, in my opinion. Look for a 25 line slot with better than 96% RTP, 50 bonus spins from scatter triggers, and magical free spins that come out of nowhere to lift your gaming experience into the tropical breeze.
The Final Analysis
It's nearly impossible to imagine a boutique studio like Gamezix existing a few short years ago. In a day of major consolidation, mergers, and acquisitions in the financial sphere of iGaming, technology has led the way to give players more choices.
Small studios can now develop a game engine, and power their creations through partnerships with remote game servers, aggregators, and platform providers and see their work sitting alongside titles from the greats like Microgaming NextGen, and Playtech along with the contributions of dozens or even hundreds of other makers.
This has created a win/win for the little guy - whether it is a lab in Tallinn, a studio in Kyiv, or you - wherever you are sitting now. These are indeed the golden years. Gamezix, in their little way, has made the world a better place for all online gamblers with their contribution.
