Copacabana Gaming
Copacabana is a name most of us recognize vaguely, familiar from a song that was popular once upon a time. It’s not surprising at all that this company is Brazilian. However, whether the company is called Copacabana Gaming or Copacabana Games is another matter. The company was officially established in 2022, at least according to LinkedIn. But if we do a handful of searches, more information comes out, and the company seems to have changed hands several times.
Not only have they changed hands, they have changed their area of interest. Today the company is a live casino producer with a special interest in roulette and bingo. In the past, they have also produced online slots, scratch cards, and lottery games like Keno.
Before we move on to the games to take a deeper look, let’s explore the history of the company as much as we can. There are some missing details of course, but we have dug up as much information as humanly possible. Keep on reading!
More on the History
The earliest start date we have found for Copacabana Games is 2017. It’s worth noting again that the company has been at times called Copacabana Gaming. As the logo is definitely similar, it’s most likely that they have simply undergone a name change. It’s entirely possible that this is due to someone grabbing the old domain name, with the new website registered in 2022. However, the latter part here is entirely up to speculation, as no official information of any sort exists.
The company was originally linked to NGT, New Games Technology. Very much another company that not much is known about. They seem to work as an incubator for promising new gaming studios. The thing is, besides the fact that these two companies used to be linked together, not much information at all is available.
In 2019 the company was acquired, for the most part, by Spiffbet. More news emerged around 2020, when the games were integrated into iSoftBet’s aggregator platform. Back then, this meant slots, scratch cards, and other similar casino games. At some point, the company was also linked to Caleta Gaming, with whom they had a joint venture called Ipanema Gaming. A company that seems to have disappeared since.
What happened next is anyone’s guess. To us, it seems like assets were moved around, and the original slots and other such games ended up in different hands. Then somewhere over the years, Copacabana Games emerged as a live casino provider. This happened around 2022 and 2023, with companies like Salsa Technology signing up the products to their aggregation platform. And that brings us to the present day, and the present games that we are going to have a look at next.
Live Casino Games
Live bingo and live roulette are the two major products at the moment, but you will also find blackjack and baccarat tables. The company has placed a heavy effort at localisation, and that also means bringing its unique Brazilian approach to the screen. The company also calls this tropicalisation. Which essentially means using the theme and approach of warmer climates. Certainly, one way to go around setting the mood in the studio and at home.
For us, the most interesting part of this selection is the live bingo products. It is a rare treat in today’s casino environment, where there is hardly any shortage of any other type of casino games. Of course, the qualities of high-definition streaming, professional croupiers, and technology that aims for ease of use apply to all the other games too.
Bingo games used to be vastly more popular, with several different bingo networks operating across different online casinos. Today only a handful remains, and these too seem to be slowly disappearing. As such, this is quite a welcome addition.
The first studio was entirely dedicated to 90-ball bingo. The setup is somewhat futuristic, though still built around the traditional spinning drum. The mood can be enchanted by adaptive lightning, depending on what is happening in the game. The gaming is fairly simple. Just purchase your tickets, and see if you draw a line, double line, or a bingo. There are jackpots to be won in addition to normal wins. Players can also partake in chat.
In an era where traditional bingo rooms have mostly lost their charm, Copacabana Games is ready to bring the luxury and chatty feeling back to wider audiences. Whilst not yet widespread, we see this product making headways across all jurisdictions. We will see if the 90-ball bingo will be followed by other bingo games in the future.
When it comes to the other games, roulette, blackjack, and baccarat, there are no similar surprises in store. At least not yet. Currently, they offer much the same experience that you get when playing with other live casino providers. Normal betting, tropical setting, and of course the same live chat to keep company with other players.
Other Casino Games
Not much remains of the other casino games released by Copacabana Games. Slots like Slayer of the Seas and Eastern Fortune were released relatively recently, but they don’t really seem to be available anywhere at the moment. It’s possible to find some reviews, but if you want to play the games now you’re out of luck. And when it comes to scratch cards and other games the situation is even more desperate, nary a word about these can be found.
If we take a look at the games that have left a mark, we can notice that the selection seems to have been quite basic. That means our very basic slot with five reels, and with the three-symbol setup that they most always come with. And that’s obviously paired with paylines, and don’t be surprised to find bonus spins and other similar features either.
Whilst these games weren’t bad by any means, they didn’t quite stand out either. Just one more set of slots that pushes all the usual buttons, but doesn’t really manage to stand out from the crowd in any meaningful way. Something that might work in land-based markets, when walking past the terminal, but not really something that you’d look for in online casinos.
Perhaps it’s then for the best that the company decided to reinvent itself. Definitely its live casino games are in an entirely different category, and unique enough that you’d specifically look for them. The same couldn’t be said of the other casino games.
Ready to be Integrated
The company seems to be popular amongst Latin American online casinos. On the other side of this is the fact that they haven’t really made much progress with casinos elsewhere in the world. On the other hand, this is perfectly understandable given that their new model of operations is relatively fresh.
The acquisition by Spiffbet and the later deal with iSoftBet is something that is quite likely to change this. One is an already established online casino, serving a large enough player base to go around purchasing game developers. The other is one of the largest aggregator platforms in the iGaming industry.
The combination of this seems to be simply waiting to be put into action. And of course, you can be sure to find the results of that fastest right here, with all our suggested online casinos.
Interpretation
Copacabana Games is an interesting company, but unfortunately, there is a great deal of information missing. What happened during the early years? When was the company actually established? Why did they change from Copacabana Gaming to Games? What happened to all the previous games, and so forth.
Naturally, we don’t assume any ill will or malice to be the cause of missing information. It’s just simply a small gaming company, quite far from the epicentre of online casino gaming. Such small companies start and disappear all the time without anyone noticing. All the more reason to keep your eyes and ears open to see what is going to happen now that we are talking about a live casino provider.
And on that note, we can certainly say that the company is bringing forward some fresh new ideas. There’s still work to be done with the interface. The same applies to the table games, which need some form of side bets and other additional factors that are starting to be the default setting for most other live dealer producers.
For the Brazilian gaming scene, and Latam at large, this is something of a unique company. And when it comes to live bingo, the company might just be the first one worldwide to present this sort of gaming. If that sounds interesting to you, why not pick a casino to play at!
