About the Company
We Are Casino is an online casino games developer with offices in Curacao and roots in Portugal. The company develops all of their games in HTML5 so that they can be enjoyed on any device, anywhere.
In late 2017 it was announced that Betzest had signed an agreement to bring the company's full suite of games to its new casino and sports betting site to sit along titles by Microgaming, NetEnt, Quickspin and a couple of other elite names.
The company's games are built from scratch in HTML5 so there's no need for Flash conversion or 3rd party libraries, all supporting files are part of each game package from the brilliant graphics to the soundtracks and effects. The game coding is lean so results are faster even on slower connections. All it takes is a web browser for players to access the games.
For providers, the company's engineers have designed a lean and lightweight API that can have the games up and running on almost any platform in a matter of days. Operators also have access to a web-based back office capable of generating custom reports out of various user data plus graphic snapshots and more.
One of the most exciting operator tools provided by We Are Casino is the Slot Builder which allows casinos to build their own games without the need for technical skills and with no casino downtime. Operators can create a template on top of the We Are Casino HTML5 Game Engine, or create one at a time bespoke games using the viewer/simulator and embedded math simulator with dedicated scenes for base game, side game, bonus game, jackpots, level-ups and more.
We tested the Waikiki Heroes progressive slot on an Oculus-ready desktop system with high definition big screen as well as an outdated Samsung On5 smartphone. We compared several parameters including load time, first impression, latency/lag, and crash recovery. Load time was slightly under a minute on the desktop using a stable 3.5Mbps internet connection. Fearing disappointment, we were happy to find that the game loaded in nearly half the time on the mobile device which peaked at 2.4Mbps on an expected 4G cellular connection.
Gameplay was simple and fun on both devices with smart graphics and animations. Using a small Bose Bluetooth speaker made the mobile sound effects just as exhilarating as those on the big system. The "long" load time on PC was mitigated when the free spins round activated without pausing to load the file. We didn't play the mobile long enough to hit a feature but must assume the same files were cached or made immediately accessible to both versions.
Once the game was loaded no latency or lag was observed on either device. Crash recovery was immediate on both devices, however, we didn't test one hour later after heavy use of other resources but it is safe to assume that the game would take some time to load again.
As for impression, it would seem not a pixel call is wasted with just enough animation and artwork that implied scene well with 2D light and shadow rendering. Minor win celebrations were snappy and quick visually and built into game sounds on top of the soundtrack, rather disrupting continuity of play by taking over the screen to announce what a player can already see and knows. Again, we didn't play long enough on either device to find out if a really big win might be awarded differently, but we were glad to see that small and medium-size wins didn't try to blow smoke and interrupt gameplay.
It will be interesting to see the diversity of games produced as more come to market. For now, the company seems to be everything they say they are - A young and dynamic company whose mission is to become one of the world's largest mobile Slot Games, Video Bingo, Video Poker and Table games provider. We're looking forward to playing more of their games.
