About the Company
Push Gaming is a London-based HTML5 game developer founded in October 2010 by managing director James Marshall and Winston Lee. Reel54 founder, Magnus Lindberg of Austria became a partner in late 2015 but is not listed as a director. The company is licensed in the UK by the Gambling Commission and holds an Alderney Associate Supplier Certificate. The firm's website bears the eCOGRA seal.
Their technical director counts a long history in Flash and game development including a couple of years with Barcrest as a senior developer working on integration with the major platforms at the time including RGS, GTS EdGE, and the OpenBet system.
Lindberg started out in the gaming world in 2004 at Score24 before founding Mobenga, a mobile software for betting operators that was later acquired by Playtech. He's been with Push since 2015.
Co-founder and MD, Marshall spent time in the recruitment sector including Pentasia before joining NextGen in early 2009 as International Partner Manager. The rest of the company runs also deep with talent from non-executive directors in the finance industry to directors, managers, and freelancers covering everything from art to audio design and composition. The team, overall, comprises professionals with vast experience in land-based, internet, and mobile gaming.
Within a year of launching they had licensed games from Magic Dreams, Psiclone Games, and Ace Gaming to bring land-based content online and in 2012 released their first licensed game with the Gala Coral Group. The same year alliances were forges in platform partnerships with OpenBet, Microgaming, and Playtech and games were released to major operators such as Rank Interactive and William Hill.
By 2013 they had decided to change direction and start releasing their own HTML5 game creations and began developing bespoke games for Unibet. Two years later their proprietary Flash title, Bonus Beans, was launched on Unibet's Spin City app and for desktop real money play. They inked a deal with Relax Gaming to worldwide game distribution and in 2016 began to supply LeoVegas and Hero Gaming casinos with HTML5 titles. This is also the year that one of their biggest hits, Humpty Dumpty went live followed by Peter and the Lost Boys and Meet the Meerkats. Before the end of 2016, they had released 9 HTML5 titles carried by more than 20 brands. Many of their games can be found at Mr Green.
Software and Games
All games are now created and delivered in HTML5 for instant play on any device. The artwork has a distinctive style and is well rendered across all of their games from arcade favorite grid games like Bonus Beans and Gems of the Gods, to the fun and entertaining 4x5 Meet the Meerkats and 25 pay line Humpty Dumpty with falling wild re-spins, locked reels full of wilds, and free spins.
The user interface on all games we tested was device agnostic, as in, they used the same controls and played the same on mobile as they did on a desktop. Soundtracks and game event sounds were well produced and scatter triggers resulted in being quickly transported to the feature games. There was no break in continuity when transitioning from base game to bonus round and back to the base game. "Masterful execution" would not be too strong of an observation of this element largely overlooked by many developers.
One thing that was slightly annoying was that the spin button didn't double as a stop button and after even the smallest win we had to wait several seconds in order to activate the reels again.
Many of the games have stacked symbols and the features are built around those in some cases, such as locked stacked wilds with respins. On Humpty Dumpty the scatter symbol is stacked and when it fills the entire center reel free spins are awarded. All of the games we tested had at least one unique mechanic or combination of features - no mean feat with the thousands of games out there.
The Final Analysis
Push Gaming offers a variety of well thought out games that are entertaining, exciting, and dare we say, addictive.
