About the Company
OneTouch Technology Ltd, (Onetouch.io) is a mobile-first online game developer for real money gambling. The privately held company was founded in 2016 and is registered in Douglas, Isle of Mann.
Co-founded by Coingaming Group CEO, Tim Heath, the $9.1m company employs about 46 people, most of whom hail from Estonia, where Coingaming was launched in 2014.
The company creates, "cutting-edge portrait-mobile casino games using intelligent UI/UX-driven designs and layouts". The mobile-first concept was born, according to online company literature, with the vision of a person holding their phone in one hand while the other was occupied holding the handrail on a bus or train - intuitive, one-hand operation.
The company's first game release was in 2016 with Blackjack, followed shortly thereafter by Atlantic City Blackjack. Popularity boomed with their 2017 Baccarat with one-hand squeeze feature catching on in the Asian markets.
Moving beyond table games, the company has begun releasing slots with more titles under development. Their second slot was released in May 2019. In the same month, the developer announced a partnership with EveryMatrix that saw the aggregator and solutions provider open up new markets in Central and Eastern Europe.
Software and Games
While the company's website states that its games and random number generator are certified according to the standards of Malta and the United Kingdom, that does not mean one should assume the UKGC licenses the technology. They are simply stating that they are certified to the standard.
The company uses "Provably Fair" as a standard. This is a common testing protocol used by many Bitcoin casino games. Players are able to verify that the order of the cards or random result from a virtual roulette spin, etc., were not altered during the course of the game.
Going further, OneTouch simulates gameplay over more than 10 million rounds to compare the theoretical (mathematically derived) return to player percentage (RTP) to the actual RTP. Simulations of this many instances establish a confidence interval of over 99% assuming low volatility games like baccarat, blackjack, or roulette.
We find about 20 titles currently on the company website with the slots all clocking in with more than 96% RTP and some well over 97%. Several of the games have been tested with over 100,000,000 simulations which assures the final number at a very high confidence interval. Regardless of the volatility, there will be very little standard deviation from the mean after that many tests.
The games are available in as many as a dozen languages for all markets. More attention to localized detail is seen in the company's release of Russian Poker, one of, if not the first high quality mobile version of this game.
Speaking of qualities...
One of the things the company does is "oversample" images so that they are super sharp and crisp on "Retina Ready" devices. The games look great on Android and even older iOS phones and tablets, but in combination with HTML5 markup language for browsers, they can appear crisp and clear on a handheld device or a huge home flatscreen. Yes, mobile "first", but quality foremost.
Slots
Juicy 7 was the company's first release. It's a low to medium volatility 3x3 reel set with 27 paylines (any matching symbols on adjacent reels left to right). With over 100m simulations the game comes in at 96.1%
Sumo Showdown was their second release. The game is laid out with four reels, four visible reel positions each, and ten pay lines from left to right. Landing a Sumo icon on the first and fourth reels on the same spin will trigger a respin with random wilds active.
In more recent years the company has been developing more games in partnership with other companies and now has nearly 50 slots on tap. While some may simply be “partnered” onto a game server, many seem to be actual collaborations or at least certain elements are being handled by individual developers whether that is art, interface, math, or game mechanics.
One of these labs is Big Wave Gaming. The company counts many topline developers and platform providers among its partners and several of those are also partnered with OneTouch.
The first title we noticed “presented in partnership with Big Wave” was Wild Wild West Deluxe 2020. The language set is telling as to what the target markets might be:
- Chinese (Simplified)
- English
- Indonesian
- Japanese
- Korean
- Vietnamese
In fact, many of the titles are Asia-centric. This one is Steampunk-ish with prominent gears not only within the game but also in the user interface, a barroom girl in the garb of the genre, a meter, and four separate jackpots.
The narrative sets the player up to rob steam trains and break into the bank to score huge bounties. The jackpots build on individual gameplay giving you persona progressive to work toward with the possibility to trigger multiple jackpot wins from a single spin.
Dynamite symbols can trigger random free spins and scatters award bonus rounds with more participating scatters awarding more games. Look for two full wild reels during bonus play - always reels 4 and 5. During free games, minor jackpots can be awarded as well with wilds. Landing five of a kind in the base game can trigger the higher jackpots.
Table games
OneTouch has always had a few RNG table games, and they are decent games. There’s a nice selection now ranging from Andar Bahar and the aforementioned Russian Poker to baccarat, blackjack, Sic Bo, and a variety of house-banked poker games.
More recently they have developed a series of Bombay titles for a sister company, Bombay Club High Roller Studio to supply its casinos and partners. The RNG series augments the offering with ultra-high-quality graphics, physics, and features.
The first Bombay RNG table game developed by OneTouch was Bombay Roulette. The full game weighs on;y 14.4MB, which, while not as small as some HTML5 mobile games, is still quite compact for all of the features and qualities packed into it.
Crossing back from Bombay to OneTouch we find a small handful of branded live dealer games. The following titles were released in 2020 and 2021, they include LIVE OneTouch Blackjack, Roulette, Baccarat, and No Commission Baccarat.
The Final Analysis
Onetouch.io has expanded steadily since its launch in 2015 to include a reasonably prolific catalog featuring a good variety of games including slots, RNG tables and cards, and live dealer studio titles. As part of a semi-segmented larger company, all functions seem to work in harmony with each other for the good of the whole. This allows for happy operators and happy players.
Over 70% of bets placed on the games are done on mobile devices, this is likely due to the ergonomic one-hand design as much as any marketing or other element of promotion - they are truly mobile-first games.
Sequels to legacy games are a nice addition as are simple innovations such as a crash game as well as more complicated evolutions such as the release of its first Megaways title under Big Time Gaming’s licensing regime in Wild Coyote Megaways.
Partnerships such as those with Slotegrator on it aggregator platform, distribution to greater markets through White Hat Gaming, as well as the purpose-built development of a dozen games tailored directly for a specific market (Japan) all bode well for the company.
