Locus Gaming
Whilst a website still exists, going through the different awards and partners this company once had, it does seem like it is a good decade out of date. The company was established sometime around 2012, with an aim to create a platform for the next generation of online casinos. Specifically mobile casinos.
Jack Gold was their first online casino, and it did actually gain some fame and awards for mobile compatibility. The site operated under an Isle of Man Gambling licence. The site seems to have closed around 2014.
What else do we know about this company? Other than the fact that it hasn’t been active since 2014.
Software or Games?
It doesn’t seem like the company ever produced any games of their own. Instead, they aimed to create their own casino platform based around mobile gaming, easy account management, integration of casino and live casino games, as well as bonus and loyalty programs.
The company managed to sign up some partners such as Microgaming, Evolution Gaming, Nextgen Gaming, Aristocrat, and Genesis Gaming. Despite this, they only ever advertised a selection of games some 70-strong. Not really something to brag about these days. Their own casino, running on the same platform, did offer some interesting promos, such as the ability for loyal customers to win solid gold bars.
One of the advantages was the fact that the sites were built in HTML5, and as much about the site would be automated as possible. The casino would work on any device, without any sort of need to download apps.
Interpretation
Whilst the idea might have been good, and the timing likewise, one mustn't forget that competition at this point in time was quite harsh. Locus Gaming wasn’t the only mobile platform coming out with revolutionary ideas. Heaps of other companies did the same, most with better results.
On top of this, the company seems to have first launched their own site, and only then decided to start providing white-label services. The fact that their platform only had 70 games was nowhere near enough, even at the time. Today most casinos have thousands of slots, and even a decade ago the numbers would be in hundreds.
And whilst the website still exists, it very much seems like it has been bought and repurposed. There isn’t much in the way of content, and the contact addresses no longer work. The company only ever seems to have launched one white-label casino, which seems to have shut down shortly after their own online casino shut down.
It’s safe to say this company left no legacy of any sort, as they never really had a product to begin with. Simply a singular online casino, which once upon a time handed gold bars to customers.
