Mastercard is a cashless financial processor with corporate headquarters in Purchase, New York, the U.S. The company, originally called Interbank and then Master Charge was created by a consortium of banks in 1966 in order to compete with BankAmericard, now known as Visa. 

Before listing on the NYSE in 2006, Mastercard Worldwide (NYSE: MA) was owned by more than 25,000 banks and other financial institutions that issued the branded cards.

The Interbank Card Association (ICA) went multinational in 1968 when the cooperative formed an alliance with Eurocard, giving them access to the European marketplace. The UK's Access card system joined the alliance in 1972 and that brand was retired in 1997.

Other significant milestones in the company's history include the 2014 acquisition of Australia's Pinpoint as well as teaming up with Apple the same year to create a mobile wallet in Apple's iPhones. How Mastercard Credit Cards Work

In a nutshell, there are actually five parties involved in any Mastercard online transaction:

  • PayFast - Mastercards "gateway" submits the data to the acquiring bank they use to fund your purchase
  • Acquiring bank - Authorizes the transaction
  • Issuing bank - The financial institution that issued your branded card send s a response or failure

At least four additional steps are added to the instantaneous payment process to authentic the cardholder and to authorize the card issuer without delaying a purchase by more than a few seconds.

At the end of your billing cycle, an invoice is created and a new credit card bill is sent. Consumers can pay it right away or let it accrue interest by making smaller monthly payments later.

How Mastercard Debit Cards Work

Mastercard debit and prepaid account cards work the same way as credit cards as far as the processing and security protocols are concerned. The difference is that rather than accessing a financial institution that has agreed to issue you a certain amount of credit, the funds come directly from your cash balance. In this way, you can never spend more money than you have budgeted or available.

Mastercard Conclusion

Mastercard is one of the most widely accepted forms of payment processing worldwide, including at online casinos. Some players who use a credit card prefer to purchase a one-time virtual card to make a deposit, especially when dealing with a new operator they are unfamiliar with. I have used mastercard, the process for deposits and withdrawals is longer than other options but it is secure and safe which is good. It works with most casinos and is also something that works internationally with different comaonies from other countries. I think it is one of the best options to use when it comes to online casinos.

I have an account with MC and I am pleased with my account and the service. I have not had much interaction with customer service since opening the account, but that's a good thing because I haven't had the need to contact customer service. MC is a good card to have and most places accept MC. Must be careful with fraud. Works with almost every casino i have ever been to.

This is similar to depositing with a Visa card. There is a potential for your bank to not recognize the charge and decline it due to possibility of fraud. In most cases you can submit the payment again or communicate with your bank and ask for approval.

I definitely did not like using this. I wouldn’t recommend using this. I don’t know too many sites that actually allow this but if you find one, and you have a good experience, using go ahead.

But if you hold a World Elite or Legend tier card, it transforms into a highly competitive lifestyle asset that holds its own against any premium card on the market—provided your issuing bank didn't gut the best benefits in the fine print.

I don't know why but the fees to use mastercard are always higher, even than visa. Not only the fees mastercard charges but the fees whereever you are using mastercard are higher. I asked once and they said it was because of what mastercard made them pay per transaction. I'd avoid using it because of that.

I've used Mastercard for years: it's safe and widely accepted. The debit card is perfect for staying on budget. My only issue is that online gaming sites sometimes reject the transaction or charge extra fees, but it remains highly reliable.

Mastercard is something that most every one has but the only down side is a lot of times Mastercard credit cards get declined when trying to deposit at international online casinos. But when they are accepted they are a easy and quick way to deposit aside from the extra fees that you have to pay on credit card transactions some times. As well as the extra kyc measures involved with using this deposit method to fund your accounts.
