Gold, everybody loves gold. And why not, time has proven it is a very solid investment with its price going up and up in the recent years.

Maybe that’s what the developer is banking on by releasing a game that’s all about gold. Well, it’s also about rubies, diamonds, expensive watches, and cash money.

All the things we love, of course.

But CQ9 Gaming has went in a bit of a naughty direction as this game is called Gold Stealer.

It’s a high-energy caper with the protagonist being a masked female thief in the femme fatale style.

Theme

So, then the theme is cold hard gold and cash and femme fatales? Sign me up, I’m sure many of you are saying already.

The developer has clearly chosen to exploit a very popular trope in fiction. People usually don’t like crime and criminals, but when the crime is done by pretty ladies and involves stealing jewelry or lots of money…

…we give it a pass as evidenced by the success of such movies as Ocean’s Eleven and also the more pertinent and recent all-female version Ocean’s Eight.

The game’s whole presentation is very sophisticated as the background is a lobby into an opulent building, possibly a bank or a very luxurious mansion.

When it comes to the symbols…

…there are the standard card numbers playing the role of low paying items. But when the title really hits its stride is in the high paying tickets which are a precious stone necklace, a luxury watch, rubies, a pearl ring, and some fat money stacks.

Rounding off the roster are the wilds which are, of course, gold bars. Finally, the jewel thief herself occupies the role of the highest-paying symbol and is also double stacked.

Betting Options and Functions

The robbery of the century takes place across a 5x3 grid and on 40 fixed pay-lines.

When it comes to the options this offering has, they are very standard. There are the requisite autoplay and quickspin but strangely without an option to dictate when the autoplay should stop.

Also, the quickspin feature is available only as part of autospin and not on its own.

Special Features

Obviously, any title about gold and other luxurious things would need to match that with some excellent and rich features.

Luckily, the developer delivers on the promise given by theme with an engaging and retriggerable extra spins mode as well as a few base game gimmicks to keep things ritzy and spicy.

The main extra spins feature is unlocked by collecting three or more of the golden bank vault symbols.

But that’s not all they do…

…because they also multiply the winnings with some pretty handsome multipliers. It’s 3x for three vaults, 10x for four, and a hefty x25 for all five vault symbols.

The base game comes with the random possibility of turning up to three whole reels wild with stacked wilds on all of them.

Our Take

Gold and other luxe things are an evergreen subject, especially for slot games. A simple search on our sister site reveals a cornucopia of games with “Gold” in their name such as Gold Rush, City of Gold, and the simply and effectively titled offering – just Gold.

CQ9 has managed, despite all odds, to still create something engaging and interesting despite the fact the theme has been quite literally done to death. We commend them on that and recommend this game to anyone.
