Odobo
Company Overview
Odobo is another one of those brands that rose up around 2011, worked in the field of iGaming for a handful of years and subsequently fizzled out and disappeared. The company wasn’t a non-entity in itself, although today you would struggle to find information or news about the brand.
First off, this company wasn’t really about creating games as such. There’s not much consensus if they did or didn’t come up with any slots. Rather, they were a platform provider. And as so often happens, they entered the market at a time when many other platform providers were spreading their wings.
Secondly, they did manage to create some interesting partnerships. One part of this was the company offering a way for other small game providers to distribute their games. Such as Applejack Gaming, Core Gaming, and Probability Jones. Some of these have survived to this date, others have faced the same fate as Odobo.
Software and Platform
The platform was designed to bring small and medium-sized developers into many more online casinos. This was combined with a special game development kit, allowing games to be integrated and to function on mobile devices and desktops alike. In a word, to sort of operate in a smaller scale than most other companies.
Several companies did jump in and use this system, and from what we can gather a couple of dozen different games were published. It seems like the company also did release a few slots like Akaneiro, Champion of Champions, East Bay Fortune, and Evel Knievel, under their own brand. But it might be that these were simply released under their brand, and produced by other small game developers. It’s hard to say, and most if not all of these slots have since disappeared.
A great number of developers seem to have joined the ranks as the years progressed. Eventually reaching something like forty different game producers. However, one has to keep in mind that these were rather small providers, and as such couldn’t really compete with the hundreds and thousands of slots that the bigger gaming companies were releasing.
Interpretation
The company shut down around 2016. The reason seems to be that they simply didn’t make it financially. Not so surprising, as the area of casino gaming is full of competition. There is no shortage of white labels, platforms, or game developers.
Ultimately, the company left no lasting legacy. Most of the time these smaller platforms are bought out by the bigger companies. But that doesn’t seem to have happened. Instead, they just fizzled out and their partners moved onto other platforms. For a while, they did have a presence in some notable online casinos like Unibet, Betfair, and Bet365.
