Pistols and Rosesby Rival Gaming

When I was asked to do a review on the Pistols and Roses slot from Rival Gaming, I immediately thought of the band Guns and Roses. Upon opening the slot, my first thought came to fruition as it looked eerily similar to what a Guns and Roses album cover would look like.

I’m not saying that Pistols and Roses slots is a knock off of the band known for hits like Sweet Child O’ Mine, but the similarities are real. Not to mention this slot comes out right after the release of the actual Guns and Roses video slot from NetEnt.

With all that said, Pistols and Roses is somewhat fun and appeals to my casual side. It’s a very minimalistic slot that is more like fruit slot of the old days than anything else. This is one of the handful of slots designed by Rival Gaming that fit this genre.

Other names in the 3-reel library catalog at Rival do lack certain features that left me wanting more. But, Pistols and Roses has somewhat satisfied this need by adding in a few extra features that make it slightly better.

Pistols and Roses Rules

This slot uses the classic 3-reel structure. It only has 1 pay line as well. For those who want lots of pay lines and special bonuses, this slot wont fulfill that desire. But then again, that’s not what it was meant for.

It does offer a wide range of baking options that will suit small stakes, and medium stakes players. Minimum bets are just $0.01 per coin. The maximum being $10. You can play 3 coins per spin which does make the maximum bet $30.

Pistols and Roses may feel old and outdated, but it does keep up with the times when it comes to function. It will feature all the necessary game controls such as auto play and other controls you would expect. It can also be played from most mobile devices given its flash based software.

Pistols and Roses Symbols

Just like the other 3 reel slots from Rival, Pistols and Roses has 3 levels of symbols. The first are the 4 suits of cards. Hearts, clubs, spades and diamonds. You will need to get 3 in a row of these to make a win.

The 2nd tier consists of pistols, bullets and bullet chambers. Three in a row of these will also trigger a win. You can also make 2 different combinations of the 3 symbols for a win. The pistols, chamber and bullets in that order will make a win. And the bullets, chamber and pistols in that order will create wins.

The final level are scatter symbols. This is the number 7 and will pay out with 1, 2 or 3 on the pay line.

Wilds and Multipliers

You may be wondering where the roses are at; and where are those extra features you said this slot had.

Then roses are the wild symbol which is a symbol not found in some of the other 3-reel Rival slots. It also acts as a 2x multiplier when used to create a win. Finally, the rose symbol is the highest paying of 1,500 times your coin bet.

Final Thoughts

Yes, it’s obvious this is an attempt to mimic Guns and Roses, I’ll just come out and say it. At least that’s my opinion. But, it does play well and the addition of the wilds and multiplier make I more than just a knock off.

For a 3-reel slot, it has fairly high paying symbols. It is a bit on the volatile side and you won’t see wins as often as you would in a more modern, multi pay line slot. But the high paying symbols make up for this somewhat.
