The object of the game of baccarat is to try and guess if the Banker or the Player will have the hand that is closest to the value of nine. You may also bet that the hand will end in a tie. It is played with an eight deck shoe and the cards are shuffled between each round. The cards have the following values: K-Q-J-10 are all valued 0. 9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2 are face value. Aces are 1.
The game begins by placing a bet in either the Banker's, Player's, or Tie betting circle. The player and banker are each dealt a two card hand. In some games, a third card is dealt to the player and banker. The person with the hand closest to nine wins. If the point value of the hand is 10 or more, 10 points are subtracted from the hand to get the baccarat value. Wagers placed on the banker or player pay 2:1, wagers placed on the tie pay 9:1. If a tie occurs, both the player and banker have their wagers returned.
