Deep in the forbidding snowy peaks of a high mountain, there is an ancient temple guarded by the Gods themselves.

Theme

In order to obtain all these riches and glory, punters will have to brave the snowy terrain presented in this game with great detail and in high resolution.

While the appropriately epic music plays in the background, players will see a barren icy landscape where giant states tower over the land.

The developer has made a great effort to make this game look and sound its best. The snow will blow across the reels and in the background while flocks of birds fly from peak to peak.

It all combines to create a really evocative atmosphere; like something you’d see in a video game or on the cover of an epic fantasy novel.

As for the symbols…

…they are culled from mythology and feature the card numbers rendered in style of runes and various mythological symbols that one might find embossed on weapons or put on entrances to temples and other important places.

Betting Functions and Options

The treacherous trek thought the mountainside takes place on a 5x3 grid with 25 fixed paylines. The main gimmick is the fact winning symbols disappear from the reels and are replaced with new ones leading to potential new wins.

This mechanic is often called tumbling or avalanche. Avalanche is especially appropriate here due to the setting. But unlike on a real mountain, these avalanches are good because they bring multipliers with them.

In the base game, the avalanche multiplier starts at 1x and is increased on every new winning combination by one up to a maximum of 4x.

Special Features

The main feature that will help the punters on their way to get glory, riches, and treasure is the extra spins round.

It is triggered by the appearance of bonus symbols – but unlike in a lot of games they are not scatters. This means they still have to appear on a proper payline in order for the mode to start. When they do, 8 spins are awarded.

Additionally, the line win that contained the extra spins symbols is still subject to the tumbling mechanic. Any additional wins with three bonus symbols during the tumble will award an extra 2 spins.

…because it doubles the multipliers, meaning they now start at x2 and go all the way up to x8.

Our Take

Norse mythology has always been fertile ground for slot games as evidenced by such titles as Tiki Vikings.

Rabcat has done some great things to differentiate themselves from the pack and create an experience that is high-end and highly engaging.

That’s reflected the most in the excellent graphics with many special effects and a proper epic atmosphere.
