Company Overview

Established in 1998, and located in Ontario, ProWager Systems was one of the oldest online casino gaming companies. Unfortunately, they are no longer active, having disappeared from the vast spaces of the internet around 2018.

And as is always the case when this happens, the passage of time has wiped away most mentions of the company. And whilst their website is still owned by someone, there is nothing present. Using Waybackmachine we can see that the last time the site had anything on it was around 2020, and even then it seemed way outdated for its time.

Poker and Web Bingo

The main product for the company was always online poker. The company worked with a business to business model, meaning that their poker software was offered to interested parties, who would then run their games in one larger network.

The company offered HTML5 software, obviously updated to this standard over the years, with poker games like Texas Holdem, Omaha, Stud, and Razz available. The software didn’t require any downloads, and worked directly from the online site. Both single and multi-table tournaments were available, and these could be customised to the casino’s liking. Of course cash games were also popular.

75-ball bingo and 90-ball bingo were also included as part of the offering. These included customisable themes, artwork to the clients liking, ability to run automated tournaments, and likewise plyable directly through the browser. Progressive jackpots, chat, and other modern features were also included.

The company seems to have launched a handful of slots, together with blackjack and baccarat tables. There’s scant mention of these anywhere online, nor do they seem to have offered anything out of the ordinary. By today’s standard they’d be obsolete in any case.

Interpretation

Shortly before disappearing the company tried its luck with cryptocurrencies, especially providing solutions for gaming with bitcoins. This is one of their last remaining newspieces, published around 2018. After this the company fell silent, and it seems like the last of their partners disappeared too.

It’s not all that surprising. Online poker started the online casino boom, and was wildly more popular than slots or table games for a good while. However, due to different developments online poker itself went through a catastrophic period, during which most companies simply disappeared. We were left with a handful of massive operators, who rule the field today.

As such, it is no wonder than a small Canadian casino provider with a dozen or so employees couldn’t compete with the bigger network. And their other main product, online bingo, suffered much the same fate. Whilst they had some slots, these were of not notable worth when once again compared to the competition. ProWager Systems hasn’t left any legacy behind, though some old timers might still recognise the brand.
