Gemixby Play'n Go

A fairly new release from Play N go, Gemix is one of the best arcade type slots I’ve come across. It’s extremely colorful and playable so much so that you may just spend a good part of your day firing it up. This rather unusual slot offers just 1 payline on a 7x7 reel grid, all inspired by beautifully shaped colorful gemstones.
The game is fairly addictive and offers a myriad of extras that allows you to progress through the various different stages. Similar to something you would do in the Candy Crush Saga. Something that I really liked about the 7x7 grid was the fact that it felt like I downloaded it on my phone as an app to pass away time. And yes although you can play Gemix online, it was created to fit perfectly as a tablet or mobile slot.
If you’ve ever played Bejeweled on your mobile device, you know the game where you have to match shapes and then they burst and are replenished from the top. Gemix will feel extremely familiar. The only difference however is that you need to match 5 of the shapes to burst; and each time you do, you win cash instead of points.
But there’s more. Where all the wins keep cascading and you accumulate multipliers similar to the Golden Ticket and Energoonz slot, both also Play N Go releases. Visually, I found the Gemix slot to be simply stunning, and if it weren’t for the coins and bet sizes section, I wouldn’t be able to tell it apart from the many gem games I’ve played.
The music is calm at first, and gets a little repetitive, but this will go unnoticed when you’re on a winning streak. As you start accumulating wins, the intensity level of the music rises, with the drums and bass notes more forward. When you switch worlds, both the background music and backgrounds graphics change as well.
Gemix Rules
The basic goal of Gemix is to make groups of five or more gems of the same color, which can be matched in anyway except diagonally. Gems that match will disappear to make spaces for more to take their place and consequently create more groups.
Before you start playing Gemix, I recommend you adjust your bets, which can be done easily through the dedicated Quick Bet panel. From here, you can set your coin sizes from $1.00 to $5.00. The Start button is used to spin the reels, whereas the Autoplay feature will put the reels in motion for a chosen number of times.
This non-progressive slot has a return to player rate of 96.75 percent with no free spins, but several bonus features, which I’ve discussed below. Gemix is made up of three different game levels or worlds as they’d like to call it. Namely miner’s, princess’s and wizard’s world.
The miner’s stage is the first level of the game hence the background and theme reflects this appropriately. Each level or world has its own exclusive range of default features that are visible on each side of the 7x7 reel set.
In order to progress from a world, you have to clear three patterns that are exclusive to each world. The required pattern will be displayed on the right, whereas the levels are represented by the stars below. A special World Bonus is awarded each time you complete a stage and the amount is indicated below the levels gauge.
Gemix Symbols
All the symbols of the Gemix slot are in the form of colorful gems, and getting the top combo of 15 or more gems lead to a win of a maximum 1000 coins. Every world has its own exclusive wild feature that can appear even during a non-winning spin. For level 1 of Gemix, a dwarf gives a maximum of 10 lanterns randomly as wilds, whereas the princess gives the wilds in the second level and the wizard in the third level.
Gemix Bonus Features
Crystal Charge – located on the right hand side above the display, this is a series of bonus features that are triggered when you collect 20 or more gems in a single spin. Four charges are randomly awarded in the spinning ball and these are:
Nova Blast – where a single gem explosion wipes out all adjacent symbols.
Crystal Warp – one random symbol is selected and all matching ones are converted into other symbols.
Light Beam – this transforms symbols vertically and horizontally, and transforms those symbols into matching ones.
Chain Lighting – this does the same only in a zigzag pattern instead of horizontally and vertically.
World Progression – as mentioned earlier, there are three worlds or stages in the Gemix slot game and the World Bonus amount increases slightly as you move to a different world.
All in all, the Gemix slot is a well thought of game and I was hooked on to it for hours when I first played it. It reminded me a lot of the Candy Crush Saga and Sugar Pop game because of the way the symbols moved across the screen. The best thing I liked about Gemix is that I didn’t feel as though I was gambling while playing it because the game was fun with decent payouts.
