Firefly Frenzy by Play'n Go

Fireflies are among nature’s most interesting animals. These little flying insects have a bioluminescent organ that uses a chemical reaction to produce light. They do so in order to warn off predators and to seek out mates.

Seems to take some of the magic away from it when it’ explained like that.

Luckily, the folks at Play’n Go are here to bring that magic back with their Firefly Frenzy game in which colorful multiplier fireflies of the enchanted forest scatter all over the reels as they try to land on the Moon.

Theme

The forest has always intrigued people. Deep, dark, and mystical, it inspired countless legends and superstitions as people wondered what manner of strange and magical creatures or even forest treasures might be found within.

From the mischievous fairies…

…to fearsome monsters.

But there’s nothing to be afraid of here.

This is an enchanted forest but…

…it’s one of those nice ones. With mystical lights and an eerie but beautiful glow.

The developer has captured that vibe very nicely, and using glowing tree roots as the borders of the playboard is a really nice and inspired touch.

The symbols are similarly magical with a choice of glow-in-the-dark mushrooms and flowers designated high paying and card-suite shaped gems being low paying.

The stars of the show are of course…

…the fireflies! They come in three different colors and have three multiplier levels and also act as wilds. These fireflies are certainly busy bees.

Betting Options and Functions

In this five-by-four game, there are 30 fixed paylines which pay left to right.

Visitors of the enchanted forest can choose to stake anywhere from 30 cents to 90 euros on a single pull of the virtual lever.

If you only have a limited time to spend in the forest, you’ll like to know the game does have a Quickspin mode to skip some of the animations and effects.

Special Features

We’ve seen the magic forest and even more magical fireflies and then the Moon. But what happens when one of the fireflies finally manages to land it on it?

That’s one small step for fireflies…

Because Frenzy Spins will activate and the multiplier on the firefly that landed on the moon becomes the minimum multiplier that can appear during free spins (so if an x3 firefly triggers the frenzy spins then only x3 fireflies will appear).

The feature can be retriggered too, making the spell of the forest last even longer.

Our Take

This isn’t Play’n Go’s first time at the enchanted rodeo as they already published Enchanted Meadow, a game which is also about the magic of nature.

And the experience shows as this game is excellently put together. From the fun and charming theme to the small touches in animation and presentation. It’s another high-end offering from the developer and a game that nobody should pass up.
