We’ve seen a lot of Asian-themed games, as that theme is quite popular in the igaming industry. So many offerings exploiting the different parts of Asian cultures from the Chinese New Year to obscure Taoist deities.
And we’ve seen a lot of fruit themed games, for sure. Fruits and slots have a long and storied history as anyone who’s ever played one can tell you.
But here is an interesting crossbreed. It’s an Asian-style game with fruits. It’s called Sweety Honey Fruity and it’s made by the famous game production team NetEnt.
Theme
So that’s the theme. Asian fruits. And quite a few of them. A watermelon, a cantaloupe, pineapple, and a carambola (also known as star fruit because of its distinctive five-point cross-section). Rounding them out is the special dragon fruit functioning as both the highest paying symbol and the extra spins trigger.
As expected from a game coming from a developer of this caliber, all the graphical and design aspects are top-notch.
The graphics are crisp, colorful, and look great in high definition while the sound has an appropriate, Asian inflection that makes it fit the action on the screen well.
A pagoda is used as the border for the game area adding additional Far East flair to the proceedings. It’s all we’ve come to expect from NetEnt, and there’s really nothing to complain about.
Betting Options and Functions
The grid is a standard 5x3 affair on which there are 15 fixed paylines. Punters who like a wide variety of bet possibilities in a game will be pleased to know it’s possible to adjust both the coin size and the bet level. This means there’s a wide range of denominations to stake on any spin with the lowest possible being only 15 cents while the maximum bet is quite a hefty 150 euros.
Autospin is here with all the options we’re used to seeing but one interesting addition is that they can now be adjusted while the auto spins are happening and not just set beforehand.
Special Features
When it comes to the features, this is another offering where everything is centered around the extra spins mode.
The way they’re triggered is a bit different than in most games. Any winning line (that’s three or more of a kind) with high paying symbols will trigger a number of extra spins with the shortest giving out just one but a five of a kind giving out 5. The dragon fruit is special in that it is the only symbol that will give out an extra spin when there are just two of it on the reels.
The mode can be retriggered infinitely as the same rules apply during it but with the addition of low paying symbols now being able to grant the same number of extra spins as the high paying ones.
The best thing is…
…during extra spins all line wins pay double.
This is also true of the Wild symbol which also doubles any win it’s a part of.
Our Take
It’s another very solid effort from NetEnt and if you’ve played slot games for any amount of time you most likely already have a formed opinion on their work.
If not, you should know the game is well made and has some solid features but doesn’t exactly shake the status quo.
Still, anyone looking for a competent game and a breezy and cool atmosphere could do far worse than this.
