The Kings of Chicago slot offers just 5 paylines so why did I even give it a shot? Well for several reasons starting with the fact that it simply seemed intriguing with a theme packed with gangsters and a unique twist. And it’s a NetEnt game with a maximum jackpot of $10,000 after all so definitely worth exploring!

The game is based on the Chicago’s 1930’s mafia and combines elements of classic slot play and video poker. What sets Kings of Chicago apart from other slot games is it does not have symbols, but all of them are replaced with playing cards.

So basically when you spin the reels, the only thing you’re trying to do is get the winning poker hand, where the biggest jackpot is of course the Royal Flush.

Winning hands are spread across the reels, and the slot features several mafia images such as a mafia moll on the queen cards, don on the king cards, who somewhat resembles Marlon Brando.

This NetEnt game packs a lot of heat with stunning 3D graphics and the winning paylines, where you spin the reels and watch the cards lay out before your eyes. The layout of the game is what you’d expect to see at a poker table including cigars, guns, diamonds, cash, and even a glass of scotch on the edge.

The five betlines are set on a 3 x 5 interface where 15 cards are dealt each time the game is played. So rather than spinning reels, the cards are placed on the table by an invisible hand, with the last set turned over to add to the suspense.

There are several wins to watch out for when playing Kings of Chicago including straight flush, four of a kind, full house, five of a kind, natural royal flush, straight and three of a kind. Once the cards are dealt, a poker hand of three of a kind or higher pays, and the Joker serves as the wild symbol.

I wasn’t able to locate a separate scatter, but did notice random cards labeled with a scatter label on each spin. And achieving three or more scatters on the reels triggers free deals.

Kings of Chicago Rules

The 5 betlines of Kings of Chicago cannot be altered, but you can however choose between 1 to 10 bet levels. The coin value selection is between 0.01 up to 1.00, with the maximum bet at the dollar coin level costing you 50 and lowest bet 0.50, making Kings of Chicago accessible to almost anyone.

There’s even an Autoplay feature that allows you to play up to 1000 spins automatically, making the game even more exciting. Each spin in the Kings of Chicago slot is referred to as a deal and getting three or more scatter labeled cards on a single deal unlocks a number of free spins such as 10 free deals for 3 scatters, 15 free deals for 4 scatters and 30 free deals for 5 scatters.

Kings of Chicago Bonus Features

The Joker card in Kings of Chicago is the wild card multiplier, and substitutes all cards. In addition, any wins including the Joker and free deal wins (three or more scatters) on activated betlines pay double.

More deals can be earned in free deal mode when three or more scatters are dealt again. The random scatters seemed a bit disappointing at first, but the additional free spins for more than 3 scatters is a nice touch.

Kings of Chicago Poker Style Slot

Although Kings of Chicago offers just 5 paylines, the paytable is quite generous. With just 5 cents on the line, I managed to hit several 5 scatters and received additional free spins during the free spins feature. Kings of Chicago has been around for a while, but is still one of the most enjoyable games to come out of the NetEnt hangar.
