I can remember as a kid seeing the movie Aliens for the first time. It scared the crap out of me then and it still haunts me to this day. It wasn’t only one of the most intense Sci-Fi movies of its time, but it was one of the greatest movies ever made.

General Rules

Aliens is a 5 reel video slot with 3 rows of 3D symbols. There are 15 fixed paylines that must all be played on every spin. Coin levels and coin value can be selected. A minimum bet using just one coin at the $0.01 level equates to a $0.15 minimum bet.

You can play up to 10 coins at a value of $1.00 per coin. This makes the maximum bet $150.

Alien Symbols

As you could expect, Aliens uses mostly alien symbols. These aren’t generic symbols either. They are great replicas of the same alien you see in the films. They are scary, well designed and hi tech looking.

Aliens does have a wild symbol that simply says “Wild”. This symbol replaces all other symbols to make winning combinations.

Level 1: The Search

Aliens has 3 unique bonus levels. The first is “The Search” At the top of the slot, you will notice a ladder where symbols can go. There’s a total of 9 boxes for symbols to go in. Each time a winning spin is made, the symbols made to create the win will be added to the boxes. If you make a win using a wild, only the actual symbols will transfer to the boxes.

Each subsequent symbol will go up in multipliers by 1. This means if you get 3 symbols in a win, you will have a x1, x2 and a x3 multiplier symbol in the boxes.

If at any time you have a losing spin, one of the symbols will be removed from the boxes. If a win is made using one or more of the symbols in the boxes, you will receive a multiplier of the highest multiplier symbol left.

If you make successive winning spins, the symbols that were there before remain there and the symbols used to make the new win will be added.

Once all 9 boxes are filled will symbols, you enter “The Encounter” Bonus.

Level 2: The Encounter

Level 2 is a free spin round with some awesome features. Symbols that were in the boxes that let you get to this round will be added to the reels. At the start of each free spin you will be given a winning combination of one of the symbols in the boxes. This guarantees at least 1 win on each spin.

After the spin, a screen pops up that has ammo clips, you will randomly either win a clip, or not win a clip. You get at least 1 clip to start and will shoot the first alien that comes screaming down the hall. You then go on to another free spin.

Once again, you get a chance to win an ammo clip. If you have ammo left you will shoot the aliens dead and keep getting free spins. Once the ammo runs out, your marine dies and the free spins are over.

If you are fortunate enough to kill all the Aliens, you move on to level 3 – “The Hive”.

Level 3: The Hive

The hive is the final bonus round. You get 5 free spins and the chance to destroy the Queen Alien. At the start of each spin there is a grenade meter that will determine how strong your grenade will be. During free spins there will be the chance to get a multiplier of up to x10 that will increase the damage of your grenade.

Once the spin is over, you throw the grenade at the hive and then shoot an attacking alien with your gun. So long as you still have ammo, you get to keep spinning and try to defeat the hive.

If you beat the hive a multiplier of x240 your total stake is awarded. One grenade could potentially destroy the hive.

Closing Thoughts

Aliens is a unique slot that has some very cool bonus features. The linking between the bonus rounds is a great idea and should be used in more slots. The possibility to win up to 570,000 coins is also a nice addition to the game.
