Markor Technology
Company Overview
Markor Technology isn’t a game producer but a business-to-business provider for the iGaming industry. However, their products include much more than this, and they are fast growing to be an umbrella company for other brands.
The company has seen remarkable growth since it was established in 2020, spreading from its original headquarters in Gibraltar to locations worldwide. The casino platform itself has grown from only traditional casino games to also include sportsbooks, bingo, virtual sports, live casino, and even niche products like fantasy sports and rummy.
Meanwhile, they have also acquired licences such as the ones in Malta, Gibraltar, and Ontario. They are partnered with pretty much all the important game providers, and offer a wide variety of payment methods for use. However, has this translated into online casinos using this platform?
Let’s find out.
A Bit More Background
You might find yourself asking how such a successful brand simply entered the market basically out of nowhere, and in mere years managed to spread across the world. And the answer is that they didn’t appear out of nowhere. As always, there’s a story in the background that explains everything.
Markor Technology has roots in a company called Nektan, which itself started operating in 2011. The company was a leading casino platform provider that also dabbled in game production. This is why you will also find that Markor does in fact have some games to its name, though these are mostly not available anywhere anymore.
Nektan was itself a company that grew extremely fast, and was even listed in the stock market. They operated together with many big brands and online casinos. However, it seems that they grew rather too fast, expenses outpacing revenue, which led to the company basically being bankrupt by 2019.
The most important result of this was Nektan basically selling its casino business to investors, who in turn used those assets to form Markor Technology. This explains why Markor Technology has had such a tremendous start: because they started with a ready product that was already widely used.
PAM and Content Aggregation
So what is the product the company offers?
It’s a two-fold solution: PAM, or Player Account Management, and the casino games that come from their content partners. Starting with licences and regulatory bodies, the company offers everything that is needed to operate an online casino. This is also called a white-label solution.
At the core of this are the tools and software that are used to operate the site. And if necessary, even the servers for it. We’re not going to bore you with the details when it comes to running the actual website, suffice to say that is however most of the stuff that the company itself is involved in.
One thing to note is that the company also offers social gaming solutions. These are entirely different products from normal online casinos, although they might at times offer the same games. Of course, social casinos don’t offer real money play, though they do offer the ability to buy virtual coins.
If It’s Bonuses You Want
More interestingly, they have a host of options for player engagement. Individual online casinos have plenty of options when it comes to increasing gamification. These include missions and rewards, which are easy to tie into different loyalty programs. There’s also the possibility of adding a fortune wheel, which adds in another level of excitement to any bonus system, and is often used as a no deposit bonus.
Of course, when it comes to deposit bonuses you have a wealth of choices. Or rather, the online casinos in question have. They can offer instant bonuses, timed bonuses, rewards, bonus spins, bonus cash, and all of these in any configuration they find applicable. These apply across the board to the different game types.
The Games You Get to Play
The biggest handful of games obviously falls under the casino games category, which means slots or live casino games. Ample amounts of automatic table games are available as well. Only a handful of these come from the company itself, and even these are legacy products no longer being developed.
The rest come from partners the company has made along the way. By the latest count, they offer over 6000 individual titles. These games come from the most respected, the well-known, and the promising newcomers that make up the top producers in the iGaming industry. Just to name a few: Evolution Gaming, Booming Games, Leander, Ezugi, Playson, Eyecon, Evoplay, Wazdan, Blueprint Games, Pragmatic Play, and others.
When it comes to sports betting the solutions are diverse and plentiful. Not only are normal sports covered but there are also options for esports. In total, we are talking about a hundred thousand individual events or matches per year. This is accompanied by tens of thousands of live matches. Together with the betting options, the company offers statistics and data, as well as the same bonus tools that slots and other casino games enjoy.
Bingo is also part of the deal, if the casinos want it to be. And we aren’t talking about those video bingo games, or slingo games, but the real deal. Bingo rooms straight from Pragmatic Play. Lotto is anything but a niche product in land-based establishments but hasn’t really made its way online yet. Lucky then that Markor Technology has a solution for that too.
Then there are virtual sports and even fantasy sports. The latter isn’t really something that you’ll find in online casinos, so it remains to be seen if the company is able to make a breakthrough in this area.
Payment Solutions
Officially, the company can pair online casinos working on their platform with over three hundred different payment methods. A good number of these are local options, whilst others are international. This includes everything from prepaid cards to credit and debit cards, e-wallets like Skrill, online banks, bank transfers, and even cryptocurrencies. Not to mention that most KYC (Know Your Customer) processes are automated, which means that there’s as little as possible paperwork for the player.
Once again, of course all of this depends on the online casino that you choose. The package isn’t everything or nothing, but rather customised and tailored to the needs of each and every online casino.
A Handful of Online Slots
So, we were able to dig up a handful of games that seem to belong to this company. Although, it’s fairly hard to find them in any online casinos. Especially as they are accompanied by thousands and thousands of slots from the more established gaming companies.
The games we’ve spotted are Riches of Atlantis, God of the Sea, Fortune Monkey, and 4 Seasons. These were all released before the company took over Nektan’s business, which is likely why we won't see more releases, and why they will with time disappear from the selection.
As for the games, they tend to offer a rather standard or default experience. Paylines, five reels, and variances that range from low to high. The games do come with decent graphics and sounds, but their special features tended to be quite limited, offering bonus spins or expanding symbols.
Interpretation
Markor Technology is without a doubt an interesting company. And they are growing extremely fast, already covering major markets like the EU via multiple licences such as the Maltese, Gibraltar, and UK ones. They are in the process of acquiring more. But who’s to say that this wouldn’t lead to the same situation that their predecessor, Nektar was in? Growth can be too fast.
And on top of that, it doesn’t seem like the company has all too many casinos running under it. Though this is actually a bit misleading. See, in 2023 Markor Technology merged with Whitezip to form Casimba Gaming.
Whilst Merkor Technology seems to remain as an independent branch of the business, it just as well looks like Casimba has become the main brand. At least if you judge by the number of online casinos under it. On the other hand, it seems like these sites in turn are run by the company itself, rather than operating as turnkey businesses for other parties.
What the company does offer is easily on par with any other software package out there. Of course, these musings aren’t of much interest for the player. Ultimately, it seems like the company behind these solutions doesn’t matter so much, as the owners and companies operating them keep changing and merging.
At the same time, a company that does have this strong of a software suite is able to offer emerging online casinos everything they can possibly need. We’d pay extra attention to the possibilities of the different bonus programs available. Have a look at our suggested casino sites!
