It’s time to enter the sweet and colorful world of pinatas, the brightly colored animals made out of paper and cardboard that dole out candy and presents to children at birthday parties.
Originating in Mexico, pinatas are now popular throughout the world and bring joy and fun to people young and old.
However, in this game by Lightning Box pinatas don’t break to reveal sweets…
…instead Pinata Bucks gives out money and jackpots to those lucky enough to trigger the special features.
Theme
South of the border, down Mexico way, is where you’ll find this game that if its background is anything to go by is taking place during some kind of a festival in a sun-drenched southern American town.
This is further evidenced by the symbols in use in the game which once we acknowledge the ever-present card numbers (starring as low paying symbols) are a bottle of tequila, an iguana, a cactus and for the two highest paying symbols…
…a duo of a flamenco dancer and a mariachi.
It’s all very festive and when the players trigger the special features the scene shifts from day to night with colorful lights and so many fireworks.
This is definitely a game that’s all about feel-good vibes.
Betting Options and Functions
Pinata Bucks is an unusual game laid out as a 3-3-4-4-4-4-3-3 grid with the central 4x4 grid forming something the developer calls Reelfecta which is their patented gimmick that was also featured in the popular games Astro Cat and Astro Pug.
The minimum amount punters need to stake to get a spin out of this festive offering is just 0.1 and those who want to be high rollers can bet up to 60.
Traditional paylines are gone from this release and instead, there are 1296 ways to win.
Special Features
Being festive and fun is all about going all out, and that’s exactly what this game does.
Remember the aforementioned Reelfecta? What is that even?
It’s Lightning Box proprietary gimmick where symbols inside the Reelfecta can form winning combinations with symbols outside of it, even if the symbols in question are not on consecutive reels.
Sounds kind of complicated but here’s an example:
You get a flamenco dancer on reels 1 and 2 but on reel 3 (the first reel of the Reelfecta) there’s no flamenco dancer. Yet, there are dancers on reels 4 and 5. Congratulations, that’s a winning combo, even though there is a gap.
But that’s not all:
Another unique special feature is the Pinata Lock and Spin. When five or more bonus symbols appear on the reels, players are transported to a new 4x4 grid where pinata symbols appear.
Once they do, they’re sticky. And when they’re right next to each other they’ll merge.
After five spins, all the pinatas finally get smashed open and money pours out!
The amount depends on the size of the pinata symbol, with the biggest 3x3 one paying up to 50x of the initial bet, or even better – awarding one of the four jackpots!
Our Take
A festive, cheery, and colorful offering bustling with fun special features and offering four levels of jackpots. What’s not to like? With nice graphics and cutesy sound effects, it’s a full package that will entertain punters for a long time.
