Modeled after the child's game of in-between or acey-duecy, Red Dog from Grand Virtual CIDC gives players a lot of opportunity to make serious bank. This is one of the odd games out that actually increases player advantage by the edition of more decks. An 8-deck game has a low house edge of 2.75% making at one of the least expensive games to play in an online casino. The strategy for the game is to simply not bet on anything less than a 7-card spread, more on the game and rules follows.
The game is played with 8 standard decks of 52 cards each. The cards are ranked from high to low A-2. After placing a bet you will receive two cards and your options will be to stand, double or raise. You are a winner if the third card falls between the first two in value. The amount of payout will depend on the spread between the first two cards. If one is a 5 and the other a 9 that is a spread of 3. Players have a statistical edge if they double on spreads of 7 or more, and a disadvantage if they take a lesser spread.
If the first two cards are consecutive (no spread) the hand is a push and your bet is returned. If they are a pair, the dealer will reveal another card and three of a kind will pay 11:1, otherwise it is a push. This is where multiple decks give advantage to the player. If the first 2 cards are neither consecutive or a pair they will establish a spread. Now you can raise up to the amount of your wager, double your wager or stand and receive the third card. Depending upon the spread payouts will range from 1:1 to 5:1. A spread of 4 or more pays 1:1, only raise or double if the spread is 7 or more. A spread of three pays 2:1, two pays 4:1 and a spread of one pays 5:1. The game allows a choice of how many decks, always choose 8.
