Just in time for Spooktober, developers are publishing their horror-themed games to frighten as well as delight.

Here is one such offering, Book of Madness, which takes players to a creepy mental hospital complete with blood-stained walls, syringes with strange liquids inside, and weird creepy nurses who wear painted smiles and blood-soaked uniforms.

If the name Silent Hill means anything to you, you’ll know what to expect in this Gamomat title.

Theme

Taking some very liberal inspirations from video game titles like Silent Hill, Outlast, and The Suffering, the game takes place in a creepy hospital where something has clearly gone terribly wrong.

There’s blood everywhere, the beds are dirty, and worst of all zombie nurses are roaming the grounds carrying some very threatening-looking syringes.

As if that wasn’t enough, there’s a werewolf around too, a very common sight in horror-themed offerings. Definitely not a place where anyone is getting out cured, that’s for sure.

All the symbols…

…are creepy too. The werewolf and the zombie nurse get their own high paying ones and the rest is filled out by beds, needless, blood packs, and card numbers. Not even our beloved card numbers are safe from this horrific mayhem.

Overall, it’s a very effective and distressing atmosphere bolstered by some very appropriate and spine-tingling sound effects.

Betting Options and Functions

The nightmare takes place over five reels and three rows with a variable number of betting lines. The punters can choose freely between five or ten active lines.

The minimum bet amount is 5 cents at 5 lines and the maximum is 6 euros spread over 10.

Additionally, autoplay is available but sadly without any of fine-tuning we’ve come to expect. Another thing to keep in mind is that the gamble functions are not available during autospin which is not a welcome sight.

The main special feature in the game is the titular Book of Madness presented like an especially dirt-encrusted hospital record.

Here’s something for the spooky season for punters who enjoy seasonal twists in the games. The graphics are competent, and the gameplay has all the necessary features. But is that enough? Some might say no, and we’d be inclined to agree. The game lacks a draw, something unique to make it stand out.

There are simply better options if you want to be scared while playing slots.
