Five Card Stud Poker
Back to Poker Variations
Five Card Stud is an exciting game, of this there is no doubt. To begin, all players ante.
Each player is then dealt one card face down and one card face up, beginning with the player immediately left of the dealer or dealer button and continuing clockwise around the table.
The player with the lowest face up card must then place a forced bet.
The player immediately left of the opening better must then call, raise or fold and thus so on around the table, clockwise.
Once the betting is finished, each remaining player is dealt a third card. This card is face up. Now all the players have one hole card and two showing cards. The player with the best up cards now must open by checking or betting and again, so on around the table.
From this point on, the best show cards will open all betting rounds. Once this betting round has been completed, the remaining players are again dealt another face up card.
The best showing hand opens the betting round and then a final face up card is dealt.
The final betting round takes place and the best hand takes the pot.
Five Card Stud is a fairly old, but tried and true poker game.
