The story of Snow White is one of the most beloved fairytales in the world. The timeless story of conspiracy, trickery, and then finally true love, has captivated entire generations leading to a famous Disney film and many other adaptations.

Among all the movies, cartoons, comic books, video games, there have also been slot game adaptations of this fairytale.

Developer Booongo is throwing its hat in the ring, for the second time, with Poisoned Apple 2. It’s a 5x4 game featuring all the beloved characters from the story and some intricate features.

Theme

In addition to pursuing a mystical fairytale vibe, which is expected, the game also has some very crisp and detailed graphics.

Nowhere is this more evident than with the high paying symbols which are characters from the story. The Evil Queen, the Huntsman, the Prince (who is surely charming, as it is expected), a dwarf, and of course Snow White herself.

They are all rendered with a lot of effort and love and look like illustrations from a high-quality picture book.

The background is also detailed and is a drawing of the cottage in which the dwarves lived and Snow White awaited true love’s first kiss so that she can wake from her sleep induced by the titular poisoned apple.

And don’t worry, the apple makes an appearance too as the game’s extra spins scatter symbol.

Betting Options and Functions

This retelling of the famous story has the shape of a 5x4 grid with 20 fixed paylines. Punters can choose to stake as little as 20 cents on a single spin or go for the big time and select 60 euros.

Of note is the Buy Feature options which let players pay to activate the extra spin feature. It’s a great addition for those who are just too impatient to let it happen on its own.

There is also autospin but we haven’t noticed additional options tied with it. It’s a click and off it goes affair. Until you turn it off, that is.

Special Features

Not counting Booongo’s previous effort there were still slots about this story before like Snow White and the Poisoned Apple which means this is familiar territory for gambling fans.

So, what does this offering do differently?

Well firstly, there is the Mirror Wilds. A special wild on the third reel will mirror all the wilds on its left thus adding more wilds to the right-hand side of the grid.

This is great because it directly increases the odds of a win.

Of course…

…there are extra spins. They are represented by the titular apple and when three of them appear the feature begins. The number of extra spins granted to the player is determined by a wheel and the maximum amount is 10.

The main thing during the mode is the global multiplier that increases by one on every spin. Since 10 is the maximum amount of spins, that means that on the last spin the multiplier will be a formidable x10.

Also, the mirror wilds feature is active during extra spins too.

Our Take

So it’s hardly a new theme as games like Snow Wilds prove but has the developer done enough to create something unique?

In our opinion, yes. The graphics are amazing but the features even more so. Who doesn’t like global multipliers and poisoned apples? Snow White sure does since this is her second time eating one of them.

Eating poisoned apples is something you definitely should not try – but this game certainly is.
