Event Horizonby Betsoft Gaming

Just imagine if you could quickly, and with absolute safety rewind to a time roughly 3000 years ago, which is a depth of space or nearest Black Hole that provides the perfect view of the Event Horizon.

This is basically the theme of the new release from Betsoft. But what really got my attention is the fact that even though it’s set in a time when not even light can escape the gravitational pull of the Black Hole, Event Horizon in essence is still an old fashioned game with bells, sevens, bars, cherries and even a Wild symbol on 5 reels.

Being a slot aficionado myself, the one thing I couldn’t help but notice is how closely Event Horizon is to Twin Spin. If you played one, you will definitely appreciate the other.

Event Horizon Rules

Pick-Me Bonus games and Free-Spins rounds are something I look forward to in slot games; but to my disappointment, Event Horizon lacks these perks.

On a brighter note, you do get 243 simple ways of winning via random sets of clone reels that sync together during a spin to bring coin wins in enormous amounts.

When the reels are in motion, each spin creates a chance for the icons contained in reels 2, 3, 4 and 5 to synchronize into reels populated with rows of like symbols. In order to enhance your chances of winning, this feature helps you boost your chances of launching a spin that comes back with multiple pay wins.

So it is possible for all reels including the first one to contain rows of five of a kind symbols. Playing Event Horizon gives you the opportunity to win as much as a whopping 144,000 coins from a completed Sync Reels occurrence, which I found to be truly intriguing.

But of course the payout will depend on the synced symbol and the value of the total bet you place on each spin. Considering this, the higher the value of your total bet, the greater your payout will be.

Playing Event Horizon

The one thing I liked about Event Horizon are the game controls. They are extremely simple, where you simply select a coin size from 0.02 to 1.oo and choose the number of coins to bet per line, ranging between 1 and 5.

The Max Bet button only sets the number of coins to bet per line, which is 5 and has no effect on the actual value of the coin. After you initiate a spin, you can however stop the spinning reels by choosing the Turbo Play mode.

Although this move can get you some wins, keep in mind that this depends on random numbers. There’s no way to guarantee a payoff, and I found it much more exciting to just let the reels spin to their fullest and wait for the outcome.

Event Horizon has a total of nine symbols – the triple bar, number 7, the bell, single bar, double bar, cherry, A, K, Q, J and 10 symbols, and a metallic globe or the Wild that represents the Black Hole’s Event Horizon.

Any one of these symbols could possibly fill up the entire slot’s screen through the game’s sync reels mechanism, which could result in a big win. I was rather surprised that Event Horizon even offered a practice mode, which starts you off with a 1000 credits.

The soundtrack of the game is sort of a synthetic bouncy electronic disco beat somewhat like listening to a techno song, Betsoft’s version of a space age feel.

You can change the sound and graphics settings by clicking on the Options button in the upper left hand corner of the screen.

Enhancing Win Possibilities

Although it could take several spins for the icons to become completely aligned into like symbols, you can still count on Event Horizon’s Wild Symbol to increase your chances of getting pay-pay wins with every spin.

The Wild is depicted by a shiny celestial orbit, which represents the sphere where all the reel icons align as a complete one symbol reel. You only see the Wild symbol on reels 2, 3, 4 and 5 and regardless of whether it appears singly or in multiples, its appearance on any of those reels greatly enhances the chances of pay-way wins.

The one reason I would return to Event Horizon is for its bigger top prize with a smaller max bet. It may be a little less giving than other slots at roughly 96% return to player rate, but you can expect a hit rate of approximately 26%, making it a great game to check out especially if you’ve already played Twin Spin.
