Company Overview

company-overviewMake note that 21GNET is no longer an active company. Whilst references to the company can still be found, and even their website offering a very limited functionality, the products, and games are no longer available anywhere.

Not much information remains of the company. They seem to have started around 2006, and a handful of years later they were simply gone. It doesn’t even seem like someone else picked up or bought the company. This is probably because their original product was very much a niche tool, largely replaced by other companies growing and each offering much the same product.

Blackjack Tournaments

blackjack_tournamentsSo what is it that 21GNET offered to players?

To put it short, blackjack tournaments. This seems to have been both a real money product and a solution for social media sites. For anyone well-versed in technology, the fact that this was built in Java should tell enough. For those not versed, it simply means that the framework and software is from decades ago.

It’s not even quite clear if the company offered its own blackjack games. What we do know is that they produced a tool, which allowed blackjack players to compete in tournaments. This was much the same time as the poker tournaments boomed, from where we assume the inspiration came from. Casinos could organise the following:

  • Hand-to-hand tournaments - two players competing against each other, with the winner taking all.
  • Sit’n Go tournaments - a single table tournament where the players competed for the top spot.
  • Multi-tale tournaments - a series of connected tables, where players would compete in their own table, and gradually move to other tables as competition was eliminated. This would then culminate in the final table.

Naturally, all of this was backed by a back-end software solution, which could be deployed alongside other solutions. There were also additional benefits in the form of loyalty bonuses and other promotions. Security and safety was taken very seriously, with the latest protocols used, and even anti-fraud tools available.

Conclusion

This solution seems to have served USA casino players first and foremost, and whilst the company took good care of security and safety, there seem to have been no official licences. Furthermore, the blackjack tournaments were simply an add-on for online casinos, with apparently no other games or products offered.

Whilst there hasn’t really been a product to replace this system, with blackjack tournaments and other table games tournaments still a rather rare sight, the software itself was a relatively niche product. It’s not a big surprise that it has then disappeared completely, especially as at the time other casino games were simply far more popular.

In the end, the company existed for a very brief time as a very small provider, with no lasting legacy to speak of. Such is how things sometimes go.
