Blue Gem Gaming
Blue Gem Gaming is connected to the controversial Sheriff Gaming, having acquired their content as the former was dissolved and the previous owner arrested between 2013 and 2016. This also includes speculation over rigged games, though this was never proven. Suffice it to say, these games and this company have something of a dubious reputation.
The history of Sheriff Gaming goes as far back as 2010. Established in the Netherlands, the company operated online slots, and was somewhat successful in doing so. They operated under the larger Bubble Group, which itself didn’t seem to operate much else than the games themselves.
Controversy
The games from the company used to be available in a variety of online casinos, and included in major platforms like that offered by Microgaming. However, around 2013 series of allegations and accusations came to light which changed the game completely.
The initial investigation by Dutch authorities was connected to illegal gambling, money laundering, and tax fraud amongst other things. All of this was aimed at the Bubble Group, which functioned as the parent company for Sheriff Gaming. During the same year, Alderney Gambling Control Commission cancelled the company’s gaming licence.
There were also allegations that the jackpots in some of the games were not designed to hit at all, and often false winners were claimed. Associated casinos tended not to pay out any such wins in any case.
This all led to establishment of Blue Gem Gaming, which took over Sheriff Gaming’s intellectual property, or in other words slot games.
Conclusion
Blue Gem Gaming was a very short-lived experiment, as the reputation of all connected parties was pretty much ruined. Ultimately, the games themselves were sold to Novomatic, and have since mostly disappeared due to their age.
Not to worry though, there are plenty of casino game providers with a clean reputation to choose from!
