As anyone with a brain could guess, The Vikings video slot is based on Vikings. Go figure! It does a nice job of representing Vikings, at least according modern pop culture. If Vikings wore horns, had long beards and their women had very large busts and wore sexy little outfits, the depiction is quite accurate.

General Information

The Vikings utilizes 5 reels and has 20 pay lines. A bit lower than what I’d like to see, but still up to par with other slots. You can bet a range of 1 coin, up to 100 coins per line. The max bet playing all coins and all ones would be 2,000 coins. If you’re a high roller, The Vikings will suit your needs.

Game play is ok. I wasn’t thrilled with the layout to be honest. Most likely because it is different from many other popular slots. It’s not bad, but it feels clunky and not as responsive as other slots.

The graphics are stunning and look great. They symbols have an animation cut scene when they trigger a winning spin. Add in the background of smooth ice and a mystical soundtrack, the game plays well overall.

Gamble Feature

After each win, you are given the option to risk your winnings for that spin. The gamble game is basically a hi lo game. The dealer’s card will show on the left side with a 4 cards face down that you get to pick from. Pick a card that is higher than the dealers and you win double your win. Choose wrong, and you lose your entire win from that spin.

Symbols

Queens, Kings and Ace symbols are the lower paying, more common symbols you will find. There’s also a shield and medallion, 2 Viking women, a Viking horse and a Viking man as the higher paying symbols. Both the women pay the same amount, which doesn’t make much sense to be blunt. But it’s the man who pays out the maximum of 1,000 coins.

Wild Symbol

A Viking ship is the wild symbol and replaces all other symbols except the scatter.

Scatter

The scatter symbol is the skull with swords. It’s pretty tough looking and one of the cooler symbols I’ve ever seen in a slot. The scatter will trigger the free game round where you get 12 free spins along with stacked wild symbols.

My Experience with The Vikings Slot

After I got used to the controls, I found myself playing the slot longer than I thought I would. At first sight, I was not impressed, it seemed unimaginative and generic. I will say that the controls are the weakest part of the game. But if you can get past that, the game itself is rather entertaining and slightly less volatile than other slots.
