When people think of America - freedom, government and the New York Jets come to mind. Sorry, I’m a Jets fan. What may not be so familiar is video poker. Slotland is trying to change this notion with their new All American Video Poker game.

Dressed in red white and blue, All American video poker will change your view on America. So let’s raise the flag and show some pride for video poker.

All American Video Poker Rules

All American Video Poker is a traditional game that uses the Jacks or Better rule. This means to win, you must make at least a pair of Jacks. You will be using a standard 52 card deck with no wilds that will be shuffled after each hand.

Betting options range from $0.10, up to $25.00 a hand. For larger pay outs, you can play up to 5 coins a hand to hit that top payday of 4,000 credits.

To play a hand, you click the deal button and are dealt 5 cards face up. You then try to make the best possible hand by drawing to a better hand, or standing pat. Only 1 draw is allowed, but you may select all 5 cards during a draw.

Another feature that is included in All American Video Poker is the popular double up game. After any winning hand, you can opt to double up your win by playing a simple hi-lo game. Five cards will be dealt out, with all but the first one face down. The goal is to pick from the 4 cards which one will be of higher value than the face up card. If you guess right, your win is doubled. Lose, and forfeit your winnings from that hand.

The double up game can be played as many times as you like, or until you lose.

All American Pay Outs

At first, All American Video Poker may appear as just another Jacks or Better video poker game. But if you look closely at the pay table, you will notice certain hands pay out at a better rate.

Sticking to Jacks or Better fashion, 1 and 2 pair hands will pay at a rate of 1:1, only getting your money back. Three of a kind jumps you up to a 3:1 pay out. It’s when you make a straight, flush or straight flush that you start to notice the jumps in payout ratios.

A straight will pay out at 8:1. Flushes pay the same. A full house is slightly better at 9:1; but, you see another increase in pay outs when you hit 4 of a kind. This will pay 30:1. Another big bump in pay outs occurs when you make a straight flush. This will award a 100:1 pay rate.

The Mack daddy hand – a Royal Flush pays 250:1 when betting 1 to 4 coins. The highest paying hand is the Royal Flush using 5 coins. This wins an 800:1 pay out.

Change Your Strategy

While the changes in pay outs for straights, flushes and straight flushes may just seem like a nice pay increase; it’s actually a game changer. With a standard paying pay table, it makes sense to go for higher paying hands that are harder to make. Using this pay table, it may be correct to try and make lower paying hands that are easier to complete.

For example, a full house is often hard to make. But, since it only pays slightly more than a flush or straight, going for the easier to make hand will be mathematically correct in many situations.

The change to your strategy, and the increased pay outs, make All American Video Poker a fresh take on a stale game. For this reason, it’s well worth the play.
