Taco Brothers is one of the more unique video slots from NYX Gaming. I say it’s unique due to its design and control layout. But in reality, I feel more online slots should play the way Taco Brothers does.

Taco Brothers takes you on a journey through Mexico as a band of brothers who love tacos. Paso, Pepe and Pico are the good guy Taco Brothers who are always on the run from Captain Diaz. Captain has the keys to lock up the Taco Brothers. But the savior is the Senorita who has the keys to free the Taco Brothers.

Before we talk about what Senoritas, Captain Diaz and keys have to do with Taco Brothers, let’s go over some quick details about this slot. Then well get into the very cool bonus features where you’ll find out all about the keys, running wilds and multipliers.

Taco Brothers Rules

Taco Brothers is a 5 reel 3D slot with 243 ways to line. Throw out the standard pay lines that you’re used to and get ready for some real action.

The controls for playing the game are rather different from what you may be used to be playing. The spin button actually took me a second to find as it sits on the right hand side of the reels and almost blends in with the game.

The same is true for other controls. To adjust your betting increments, you need to click on the coin icon that sits to the left of the reels and again blends in with the game. But once you find the controls, I think you’ll find them rather sophisticated and better than most.

You can wager as little as $0.10 a spin, or up to $50. You can also follow one of the 3 different programmed betting strategies built into the slot. This is something I have never seen before, but it’s rather interesting.

Betting Strategies

Taco Brothers implements a betting strategy that you can choose to use. There are 3 different pre-set betting strategies to choose from.

Jumper
Leveller
Booster

The jumper betting pattern will raise your bet by 1 level after each winning spin. This will continue to raise 4 times in a row and then reset. It also resets after a losing spin.

The Leveller strategy will raise your bet level by 2 after 5 losing spins in a row. Once you hit a winning spin, it will reset back to your normal level.

Finally there’s the booster betting strategy. This will raise your bet level by 1 after each losing spin. Even if you win after it has been raised, it will stay at that level until ou have reached 4 times your beginning bet level and then reset.

Taco Brothers Symbols

The standard symbols are various Mexican themed items like Cactus, Mexican guitar and a bottle of Tequila. The Taco Brothers – Paso, Pepe and Pico are also symbols on the reels.

The wild symbol is a bell that says “Wild” It replaces all symbols except the scatter and Taco Brothers Wild symbol.

The Taco Brothers wild symbol will act as both a wild symbol and can trigger a re spin when at least 2 appear on the reels.

The safe symbol is the scatter and triggers the Wild Escape bonus game. During this bonus game you will be introduced to Captain Diaz and the Senorita symbols.

Wild Escape Bonus Game

Three or more safe symbols will take you to the Wild Escape, free spins bonus game. During free spins the Taco Brothers symbols will star to appear on reel 5 one at a time. These will become running wild symbols that move over one reel after each spin. This means you could potentially have reels of wilds if you’re lucky.

But Captain Diaz will have none of this. If his symbol lands on the reels, he will lock away one of the running wild symbols. If he catches them all and no more running wilds appear, the free spins are over and you go back to normal game play.

The Taco Brothers do have a secret weapon though. The Senorita has the power to free the Taco Brothers running wild symbols with her keys. She will release all running wild symbols captured by Captain Diaz and restart the free spins.

Closing Thoughts

Taco Brothers is a very cool and absolutely different type of slot. It’s refreshing with its vibrant colors and animated wins. The soundtrack is a little too laid back for the theme, but that’s just me trying to find something wrong with this slot.
